I had a fractured thigh, severe bruises, a concussion, and early contractions. My baby was in distress, but the heartbeat held on.
While I was in surgery, Alex didn’t sit idle.
He turned over all the evidence I had secretly sent him over the past months — photos of bruises, recordings of Victor’s threats, messages where his parents encouraged the abuse. Nora’s own video of the beating that morning became the strongest evidence against them.
Police arrested Victor, Helena, Raúl, and Nora at the hospital.
Victor screamed that I was lying, that it was “just discipline.” His mother tried to play the victim: “She’s too sensitive! We were just helping her!”
The judge didn’t buy it.
