A former beauty queen was fatally shot in Mexico City and authorities are investigating an accusation that her mother-in-law was the culprit.

Carolina Flores Gómez was found dead in an apartment on April 15 in the high-end Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City, according to reports from Diario Puntual, TV Azteca Guerrero and Reporte Indigo.

Gómez, 27, was the winner of the 2017 Miss Teen Universe Baja California pageant, per Indigo. She was shot in the head, according to the reports.

Citing prosecutors in Mexico City, the outlets reported that authorities are looking into Gómez’s mother-in-law’s alleged involvement.

Puntual and The Daily Beast reported that authorities claimed both the victim’s husband and mother-in-law were present at the time of the alleged killing.

No one has yet been arrested or charged in connection with the death of Gómez.

Gómez was originally from Ensenada in Baja California, per Puntual.
