A case has emerged in which a woman in her 20s from Mexico, who had won a beauty pageant, was killed by her mother-in-law, with footage from the scene of the incident being released.

According to video footage published by foreign media, including the New York Post on the 23rd (local time), the deceased, Carolina Flores Gomez (27), walked from the living room to her room wearing a white robe on the day of the incident. Her mother-in-law followed her, hands in her pockets, and suddenly multiple gunshots rang out.

When Gomez’s husband, who was in another room, emerged holding a baby, the mother-in-law said, “She made me angry.”

After the husband confirmed the body, he said in disbelief, “She is my family,” to which the mother-in-law responded, “You are mine. That woman stole you.”

The incident occurred on the 15th in an apartment in the Polanco area, a high-end residential district in Mexico City. The deceased’s husband reported his mother to the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office one day after the incident.

During the investigation, the husband reportedly stated, “My mother shot my wife during an argument.”

Gomez had won the ‘Miss Teen Universe Baja California’ competition, a regional preliminary for Miss Teen Universe, in 2017. Baja California is a state located in northwestern Mexico.

Gomez had been sharing her daily life as a content creator on social media. She recently gave birth to a son.

The mother-in-law, the suspect in the shooting, is currently on the run. Local authorities are working to apprehend her and are also investigating whether the husband assisted in the crime.
