Jason Hughes, 40, a beloved math teacher at North Hall High School, stepped outside his house around 11:40 p.m. after hearing noise in his yard. As Hughes approached the cars the group was getting into, he allegedly stumbled into the road just as one of the vehicles pulled away. What happened next turned a prank into a fatal incident. Emergency responders rushed him to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, but he later died from his injuries. Police have since arrested five 18-year-olds, including the driver who now faces first-degree vehicular homicide charges.
