She also stabbed her daughter, Kyrsten Bleattler, after she tried to intervene
Kegley told authorities she attacked him to “free” him from the “simulation,” and the “illusion” of life, WFLA reports
A Florida woman was arrested for allegedly attempting to kill her daughter’s partner.
Sandra Kegley, 54, was arrested on attempted murder charges in the first degree and battery, aggravated (deadly weapon), according to arrest records obtained by PEOPLE.
She allegedly tried to attack her daughter Kyrsten Bleattler’s boyfriend, Eric Smith. The Pinellas Park Police Department (PPPD) responded to a call around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, where officers discovered Smith, 23, and Bleattler had “various stab wounds and cuts,” the PPPD said in a news release obtained by PEOPLE.
Bleattler attempted to intervene and was injured in the process, Fox 13reports, adding both Bleattler and Smith sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.
Kegley allegedly told authorities that she attacked Smith in an attempt to “free” him from the “simulation,” because life is an “illusion,” WFLA reports, citing an arrest report.

Kegley is currently being held on $500,000 bond in Pinellas County Jail, according to jail records viewed by PEOPLE.
