The United States has suffered heavy losses following the confrontation with Iran — the true death toll is far higher than anyone anticipated.

Iran claims the US suffered the loss of 200 soldiers in Tehran’s retaliatory attacks on bases across the Middle East.

“Due to missile attacks on US bases, at least 200 US servicemen have been killed and wounded,” the Tasnim news agency quoted a statement from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on February 28 as saying.

Commenting on Iran’s retaliation, IRGC General Ebrahim Jabbari warned US President Donald Trump that Iran has “advanced capabilities” and is prepared for a protracted conflict.

“When war begins, we will attack everything we have in our stockpiles,” Jabbari said, warning that he would launch “the most powerful missiles.”

Jabbari warned that Iran would continue attacks in the coming days in retaliation for the US and Israeli military campaign.

“All controlled territories and US bases in the region have been subjected to intense Iranian missile attacks. This campaign will continue relentlessly until the enemy is completely defeated,” several media outlets quoted a statement from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as saying.

Earlier, with the backing of the United States, Israel launched what it described as a preemptive strike against Iranian military and nuclear targets in the early hours of February 28. Israel claimed the attacks were aimed at neutralizing threats posed by Iran in the region.

President Trump later confirmed that the White House had supported Israel in carrying out the attacks, citing the failure of nuclear diplomacy as the direct cause of this move.

According to sources, Iran’s retaliation targeted several US military facilities across the Middle East, including the Fifth Fleet Support Center in Bahrain, a base in Iraqi Kurdistan, Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, Muwaffaq Al Salti Air Base in Jordan, and Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

Israeli news agencies also reported that at least 35 missiles were fired toward Israel, injuring several people.

Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan, all countries with a U.S. military presence, have reported intercepting Iranian missiles.

The United Arab Emirates confirmed it intercepted most of the 137 missiles and 209 drones launched by Iran into its territory within hours of the US and Israel launching military operations.

The UAE is home to approximately 5,000 US military personnel at Al Dhafra Air Base, just outside Abu Dhabi.
