Family of Matt Brown from ‘Alaskan Bush People’ reflect on his life and death
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The family of Matt Brown, who appeared on the TV series “Alaskan Bush People,” are grieving his loss after his body was found in a Washington River over the weekend.
Matt Brown appeared on the show from 2014 to 2019, alongside other members of the Brown family. Matt’s siblings, Gabe, Rain and Noah said his loss has been hard.
“What I wanted for Matt was that he would, kind of come back to how we used to be,” Gabe Brown said. “Cause he used to be like so fun loving, so full of life, so curious, and he taught me so many different things and I have so many memories with Matt of just – just great times.”
Matt Brown’s body was positively identified by his brother Noah after three days of searching, which Noah said provided some resolution.
“It definitely made it to where you, you can feel the finality of it a little bit more,” Noah Brown said. “Cause until that moment there was that hope, like it was talking about of like, maybe, maybe it’s not, maybe he’s not lost in the river. Maybe, maybe he’s still there.”
His siblings said Matt was goofy and zany, loved to tinker, and had a knack for making art. Matt’s survival knowledge helped them in the woods, and he embodied their family motto, “one wave at a time.”
“He was a really good inspiration for me when I was going through my struggles to just keep on the light side of things,” Rain Brown said. “And he, he told me at a point, and he goes, you know, if you fall down seven times, stand up eight.”
