At least three people have been detained in connection to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, a local law enforcement source tells Fox News Digital

The source says after receiving a tip, authorities detained two males, plus one of their moms. The source said a warrant had been served.

The source cautioned that during a warrant execution “technically everyone is detained.”

Unclear if anyone is a suspect.

The detainments come after law enforcement swarmed an area about two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home late Friday night. The Pima County Sheriff said it would release a written statement soon.

Range Rover stopped in connection with Guthrie investigation towed away from scene

A Range Rover was towed away from a Culver’s parking lot in Tucson, Arizona, Friday evening after it was involved in a traffic stop during a law enforcement operation in connection with the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

Law enforcement investigated the Range Rover, which appeared to be silver or gray, for a couple of hours before having it loaded up onto a tow truck and taken away from the scene. During the investigation, authorities covered the vehicle’s license plate and removed items from the vehicle to photograph, even holding up a sheet at one point to block the view of police activity in the trunk.

The driver of the vehicle was detained by law enforcement for questioning and was taken away from the scene. It’s unclear if the person remains in custody.

At least three people were detained Friday evening for questioning, but police have not named any suspects in Guthrie’s disappearance.

A man was detained during a traffic stop late Friday night at Culver’s, a fast food restaurant about two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home, as law enforcement carried out a major operation in connection with the investigation into her disappearance.

A local law enforcement source tells Fox News Digital that the man is being questioned in connection with the warrant that was served nearby.

Police are also investigating a Range Rover at the scene, according to Fox News Digital, and not a white van.

Sheriff’s office confirms Guthrie-related police activity but releases no new details

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said early Saturday that no formal statement would be made as a large police operation unfolded about two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home.

The agency had said earlier in the night that it would release a statement.

All the sheriff’s department would say is the following:

“Law enforcement activity is underway at a residence near E Orange Grove Rd & N First Ave related to the Guthrie case,” the department posted on X. “Because this is a joint investigation, at the request of the FBI — no additional information is currently available.”

Authorities have not said who was involved, whether anyone is a suspect, or what prompted the operation.

The investigation remains ongoing as it enters its third week.

Second, larger SWAT vehicle departs law enforcement ops zone as long line of vehicles move in

A second, larger Pima County Sheriff’s SWAT vehicle was seen leaving the active law enforcement area about two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home, according to Fox News Digital video from the scene.

The departure comes after a long line of additional vehicles, possibly law enforcement, was ushered into the area where authorities have been operating following earlier warrant activity.

Officials have not released new information about the operation or who may be involved. The Pima County Sheriff’s Office have not yet released an expected written statement.

A large law enforcement operation is unfolding about two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home on the eve of the 13th night of the search.

Several hours earlier, Fox News reported that a SWAT vehicle and the Pima County Sheriff’s Mobile Command Center mobilized from headquarters.

Law enforcement has not announced what prompted the move, but investigators are expected to share additional information as it becomes available.

Nancy Guthrie’s health concerns remain urgent as search day 13 continues

As the search for Nancy Guthrie continues its 13th day, concerns about the missing 84-year-old’s medical condition remain a major focus.

During a Feb. 5 appearance on The Ingraham Angle, Fox News medical analyst Dr. Mark Siegel said Guthrie has significant underlying health needs, including a pacemaker and daily medications.

“She takes daily medicine to stay alive, and we have no idea if she’s getting that,” the host noted during the segment.

Siegel warned her condition could deteriorate quickly without treatment, especially under stress or injury. “Very concerning about her health,” he said, noting potential cardiac risks, blood pressure complications and limited mobility.

He also clarified that pacemakers do not function as tracking devices and cannot be used to determine her location.

Guthrie’s family has previously said she walks with a cane and has mobility limitations, factors Siegel suggested could indicate more than one person may have been involved if she was forcibly moved.

Pima County releases Feb. 13 update in Nancy Guthrie investigation

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department released a new media update Friday on the ongoing search for missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie.

Authorities said they continue working jointly with the FBI and remain committed to a collaborative investigation. Evidence requiring forensic testing is being sent to the same out-of-state lab used since the beginning of the case, a decision officials say was coordinated with local FBI leadership.

Investigators confirmed several gloves have been found during search efforts, with the closest located about two miles from Guthrie’s home. Officials said reports that a glove was found inside the residence or on the property are inaccurate.

Authorities also said DNA not belonging to Guthrie or those in close contact with her has been recovered, and investigators are working to identify it.

No suspect vehicles have been identified, and officials say all leads and submitted videos continue to be reviewed.

No press briefings are currently scheduled.

Nanos says investigators found DNA in Guthrie’s home that was not Nancy’s

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed investigators have recovered DNA connected to the scene that does not belong to missing 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, calling it a key focus of the investigation.

“What I believe is what I know is we found DNA,” Nanos told Fox News correspondent Jonathan Hunt in a sit-down interview.

When asked directly, he confirmed: “that was not Nancy Guthrie’s DNA.”

Authorities are now working with their contracted forensic lab in Florida to analyze the biological evidence, which Nanos said includes elimination markers from people connected to the home to help narrow possible matches.

The sheriff declined to comment on possible law enforcement movements tied to the case after Hunt noted a SWAT vehicle had been mobilized in the field.

“I know that they’ve got a lot of things going on out there, but I wouldn’t. It would be very inappropriate for me to talk about those things. Officer safety issue, those kinds of things.”

Nanos pushed back on criticism over evidence handling, saying his department works closely with the FBI and that the decision to send biological evidence to the Florida lab reflects long-standing procedures.

He also clarified that a glove believed to be potential evidence was not found at Guthrie’s home but about two miles away during expanded search operations.

Despite the ongoing investigation, Nanos stressed the search remains a rescue effort.

“They all have hope and belief that this is a rescue mission.”

Pima County Sheriff mobile command center on the move

The Pima County Sheriff’s mobile command center has rolled out from its location.

A SWAT vehicle that is normally positioned in the back parking lot of the building was also no longer in place.

The last time those vehicles moved, authorities detained a person of interest in Rio Rico who was then released.

It is unclear what prompted the movement and officials have not yet confirmed any new developments. It could be routine activity, but the shift may be significant.

Arizona sheriff says he has no regrets releasing Nancy Guthrie crime scene back to family

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is standing by his department’s handling of the Nancy Guthrie crime scene, rejecting criticism that investigators released the Tucson home too quickly.

Nanos told Fox News correspondent Matt Finn on Friday that he does not regret the timing of turning the property back over to Guthrie’s family, saying deputies had already collected the evidence they needed.

Nanos also addressed questions about visible blood left on the doorstep, saying it is not law enforcement’s responsibility to clean crime scenes.

The sheriff’s interview comes as the search for Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC host Savannah Guthrie, continues its 13th day.

Feds double Nancy Guthrie reward as former FBI agents suggest they’re seeking an insider tip

TUCSON, Ariz. — The FBI’s decision to increase the reward for information on Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts is drawing analysis from multiple former FBI officials, who say the move reflects both strategy and investigative progression nearly two weeks into the case.

Retired Supervisory Special Agent of the FBI Scott Duffey told Fox News Digital that the increase may be designed to target someone close to whoever is responsible.

“I believe this is the right time to increase the reward,” Duffey said. “My belief is the FBI started high to attract a family member, friend, or colleague of the attackers. The public is typically there to help regardless of an award.”

Drawing on his experience working fugitive cases involving smaller rewards — typically between $2,500 and $5,000 — Duffey said valuable tips often came from insiders.

“When I worked crimes with lower-level reward amounts, the contacts were from friends or family members. This was typically in fugitive work,” he said.

He noted that the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted list carries million-dollar rewards for the same reason.

“You are seeking ‘inside’ information,” Duffey said.

Suspect likely cased Nancy Guthrie’s home before her disappearance, expert says

Forensic expert Joseph Scott Morgan told “Fox & Friends First” on Friday that it’s likely the suspect in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie cased her property beforehand.

Morgan made the remark after being asked about a request by authorities for Guthrie’s neighbors to review their security cameras.

Fox News host Todd Piro asked, “Does that lead you to believe that authorities think this house was cased?”

“Yeah, yeah, I’d buy that 100%,” Morgan said. “I think that that’s probably the situation that we’re looking at right now.”

“Somebody has seen something. And, you know, I mean, all of us live in various locations where we have neighbors that can observe things. You know, and they might say, ‘hey, I keep seeing this particular type of car pass up and down the street,’” Morgan added.

“And keep in mind, shoe leather is in effect here. You’ve got door knockers that are going around and asking these people questions. So if they find this common thread between all of these houses that are adjacent to Mrs. Guthrie’s home, that’s significant,” he continued.

“If they have videography that’s out there, you might see the vehicle passing, making rotations, maybe slowing, hey, you might even have an opportunity to see somebody actually get out of the vehicle, walk up, and remember, this is being done under the cover of darkness. We’ve heard lighting isn’t great out there. So you could sneak and peek, if you will, all around this property, try to get an idea of where cameras are, any kind of surveillance equipment, and maybe just the habits or lights left on,” Morgan said. “Is there some kind light I have to avoid? But it’s interesting that an individual would not pick up on this Nest camera that’s out there if they have in fact been casing it. Maybe their skills at casing a location are not that refined.”

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday that, “Investigators are requesting any video showing vehicles, traffic, pedestrians, or suspicious activity,” from Jan. 1 to Feb. 2.

Sheriff in Nancy Guthrie case says no glove found at home, defends ongoing work with FBI

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told Fox News Correspondent Matt Finn on Friday his office has not found a glove at Nancy Guthrie’s home and that they are working well with the FBI.

“We have no glove. We never found a glove on that property,” Nanos said regarding the search efforts at Guthrie’s property in Tucson.

Nanos said the Pima County Sheriff’s Department is working well with the FBI after a federal law enforcement source accused him of blocking the FBI from obtaining key evidence in the case.

Nanos told Fox News it is “absolutely crazy” that he wouldn’t seek out the FBI’s help and partnership.

The Monday after Guthrie disappeared, Nanos said he called the FBI. He pushed back on claims he was reluctant to include the FBI, and said for example, they quickly let the FBI take the lead on the ransom notes because the FBI is better at that with their technology.

Nanos said his office sent evidence in the case to a private lab in Florida from the beginning, and that the Guthrie family DNA and other DNA swabs are at that facility.

“We trust the FBI’s crime lab, we’ve used them before, but in this case we started with that lab. It’s just that simple,” Nanos said.

The sheriff said “we believe it’s a kidnapping,” in the Guthrie case, but you “always consider all possibilities.”

He added that, “Nobody is ever really eliminated,” when asked if anyone has been ruled out.

Trump asked whether cartels possibly involved in Nancy Guthrie disappearance

President Donald Trump was asked Friday whether cartels or possibly another “nation state” could be involved in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

“You can’t say that yet,” Trump said outside the White House, responding to a question from Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich. “It’s a little bit early.”

“But it’s somebody either knew what they were doing very well, or they were rank amateurs. Either way, it’s not a good situation,” Trump added.

President Donald Trump commented Friday on why the FBI has not taken over the Nancy Guthrie case while departing the White House.

Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich asked the president, “Why hasn’t the FBI taken over the Nancy Guthrie case as the lead investigator? Do you have any updates on how it’s going?”

“Well, they took it over originally. You know, it was a local case originally, and, they didn’t want to let go of it, which is fine,” Trump said. “It’s up to them. It’s really up to the communities. But ultimately, when the FBI got involved, I think, you know, progress has been made.”

Leavitt reiterates FBI on ground, offers local authorities ‘full resources’ to bring Guthrie home

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told “Fox & Friends” on Friday that FBI Director Kash Patel assured her that the bureau is on the ground in Arizona and is offering local authorities “full resources and weight of the federal government” to bring Nancy Guthrie home.

Leavitt made the comments after being asked by co-host Brian Kilmeade, “If the friction indeed exists between the FBI and locals, is there anything the president could do to try to get the FBI in front, or is that just something out of his jurisdiction?”

“Well, look, the FBI, in order to take over the investigation, would of course need the local authorities to hand it over to them. And I spoke with Director Patel late last night, and he assured me the FBI has been on the ground,” Leavitt said. “In fact, Director Patel himself was on the ground in Arizona this week, and we are offering the full resources and weight of the federal government to help local authorities bring this case to an end, to bring Nancy Guthrie home.”

“President Trump immediately offered that when this case was first heard about, when this news broke, and our hearts break every day that this goes on, and again, the FBI is on the ground wanting to assist in any way that they can. And they have. You saw last night, Director Patel and the FBI released additional information and photo evidence. They have also upped the reward for anyone who comes forward with the suspect,” Leavitt continued. “And of course, they have the FBI tip line, which they are actively working to work through any credible tips that can lead to a closure in this horrific case.”

When asked to describe a recent phone call President Donald Trump had with Savannah Guthrie, the NBC “Today Show” host and daughter of Nancy Guthrie, Leavitt said, “It was of course a very sad and solemn conversation for the president, but of course, for Savannah as well.”

“It was an important call for the president to make, and he made it right away upon learning of Nancy’s disappearance,” Leavitt said. “And in that phone call, he assured Savannah and the Guthrie family that, again, the White House and the entire Trump administration, including and especially the FBI, are on the ground to help local authorities in any way possible to bring Nancy home.”

Law enforcement could be reviewing Ozark Trail backpack purchases at Tucson-area Walmart stores

A law enforcement expert speculated Friday that investigators working the Nancy Guthrie case are likely reviewing sales of Ozark Trail backpacks at Walmart stores in the Tucson area.

“If it was purchased new, you can go to Walmart with a subpoena, they will do this, they probably have already done it, and say who has bought that specific backpack in the greater Tucson area over the last couple of months, last six months, year, whatever it is, so now you get a list of names,” NBC law enforcement and national intelligence reporter Tom Winter said on the “Today” on Friday. “Even if they bought by cash, you would still have a record of that person buying, perhaps surveillance video of that person buying.”

The FBI’s Phoenix Office said Thursday that the masked suspect seen in a surveillance video released earlier this week is “wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack.” The Ozark Trail brand is owned by Walmart.

Nancy Guthrie disappearance raises alarm to crime surge in Tucson, border region

The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie from her home in the upscale Catalina Foothills north of Tucson, Arizona, is drawing attention to a crime surge in the region.

Violence is widespread in Tucson city proper, with large encampments where meth and other drugs are readily available and criminals reportedly exploit the city’s free bus system to carry out offenses. These revelations are gaining scrutiny as the search for Guthrie nears the end of its second week, and after surveillance video of a masked suspect on her front steps has led to thousands of tips but no arrests.

Fox News Digital spoke with local business owner Josh Jacobson, who works with the nonprofit Tucson Crime Free Coalition, which advocates for adequate law enforcement staffing and resources, treatment for the needy and prosecution for criminals. Tucson is located in Pima County, and while he describes the county as “a relatively lower crime area,” he points to Tucson as the problem.

“It’s really the city of Tucson that’s where crime spins out of control, and our deputies are really involved trying to push crime back,” he said.

Encampments containing drug and criminal activity, according to Jacobson, are located about three miles from Guthrie’s home in the Catalina Foothills.

Precipitation expected in Southeast Arizona during Guthrie investigation

The National Weather Service Tucson said in a Thursday morning post on X that there will be precipitation in Southeast Arizona on Friday.

“A winter weather system moving through the Desert Southwest Friday will result in widespread valley rain and mountain snow showers across Southeast Arizona Friday and Friday night,” the post stated.

“Isolated thunderstorms will be possible Friday afternoon and evening,” it added.

“The FBI will continue our investigation regardless of weather conditions,” FBI Phoenix public affairs officer Connor Hagan noted, according to CNN. “Bringing Nancy home is our priority.”

Pima County sheriff denies withholding evidence from FBI

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is rejecting allegations that he is withholding evidence from the FBI in the Nancy Guthrie Case.

Nanos told KVOA that the allegations are “not even close to the truth.”

A federal law enforcement source previously told Fox News Digital that Nanos was restricting the FBI from obtaining key evidence in the 84-year-old’s disappearance. The evidence requested by the FBI includes a glove and DNA found inside Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona, home, according to information first reported by Reuters.

Federal officials have asked Nanos for the items so they could be processed at the FBI’s national crime laboratory in Quantico, Virginia. However, Nanos has insisted on sending the evidence for testing at a private lab in Florida, according to the source.

Nanos told KVOA that the private lab in Florida has been working with the sheriff’s department for years and is analyzing DNA profiles from the crime scene. He added that there were discussions with the FBI on Thursday morning about possibly sending gloves to the FBI’s lab, the station said.

“Actually the FBI just wanted to send the one or two they found by the crime scene, closest to it – mile, mile and a half . . . I said ‘No, why do that? Let’s just send them all to where all the DNA exist, all the profiles and the markers exist.’ They agreed, makes sense,” Nanos told KVOA.

TMZ’s Harvey Levin says person seeking crypto for kidnapper ID fears retaliation

TMZ reported on Thursday that the person who sent the outlet an email on Wednesday seeking one bitcoin in exchange for the name of the person who kidnapped Nancy Guthrie sent another email on Thursday lamenting, “I am not being taken seriously.”

The outlet reported that the individual said he or she would need money to lay low after naming the perpetrator due to fear of retaliation. The person worried about being “incriminated like that Carlos [the deliveryman who was detained and released] guy,” the outlet reported

During a Thursday night appearance on “Hannity,” TMZ’s Harvey Levin noted “that the reason he wants the bitcoin is because he will become … the way he put it, a, he’d be labeled a national rat.”

The person is afraid of “retaliation and that he needs to lay low, go underground, and he needs money to survive … during that time, and that’s why he’s asking for this bitcoin,” Levin said.

Levin said that there were “some ominous things in this letter. But he ends it by saying … this is his second and last attempt.”

The person was “definitive here that he can lead authorities to the kidnapper. And he’s very clear on that.”

Nancy Grace says finding truck is vital to Nancy Guthrie case

“Crime Stories with Nancy Grace” host Nancy Grace said federal authorities are looking for a gray truck in connection with Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.

“They’re asking everyone within a two mile radius to pull video and have they seen a truck, a gray truck, and do they own a truck, and do they know somebody who owns a truck?” Grace said of the investigation.

Grace said the reason authorities are searching for a truck is one has reportedly been spotted on video around questionable times.

Neighbors mentioned a possible gray truck in the area, though no make, model or license plate information has been provided.

The repeated questions about truck ownership have raised questions about whether investigators are attempting to identify a specific vehicle seen on surveillance footage.

At this point, no confirmed truck has been publicly linked to the individuals at the center of the investigation. It is unclear whether the gray truck mentioned by neighbors is connected to the case or simply a vehicle observed in the neighborhood.

Grace also suggested on “Hannity” Thursday that the truck would be needed because Nancy was bleeding when she was abducted.

“They’re looking at surveillance video, and I think they’ve seen a gray truck surveilling the home in daytime conditions and nighttime conditions,” she said.

Why do we need the vehicle? Nancy Guthrie was bleeding,” Grace added.

“I don’t care how much they clean that vehicle, they’re not gonna get rid of all the blood.

“A vehicle makes all the difference. Do I have to say Bryan Koberger? We know the DNA helped the case, cracked the case,” Grace said.

Authorities have not publicly commented on whether a truck is considered a vehicle of interest.
