Prince Harry Is ‘Desperate’ for King Charles To Visit $14.65 Million Montecito Home—and Spend Time With Grandchildren Archie and Lilibet

Prince Harry has reportedly extended an invitation to his father, King Charles, to visit his family’s $14.65 million Montecito mansion during the monarch’s upcoming trip to the U.S.
According to reports, Harry, 41, is “desperately” hoping that Charles, 77, will find time in the schedule for his planned April visit overseas to make the journey to California, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living since 2020.
Charles and his older son, Prince William, are both due to travel to the U.S. in separate trips to mark the country’s 250th anniversary—and to discuss a key trade deal that was put on “pause” by President Donald Trump, according to The Guardian.
However, The Sun reports that Harry is hopeful his father will also carve out time for a much more personal milestone: spending time with grandchildren Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, whom he is not thought to have seen since 2022.
“Harry has made it clear that he would love his dad to come and visit him and the family,” an insider said. “He knows that they are strained, but he has mentioned several times a hope that his father can have a relationship with his grandchildren.”

The full details of Charles’ visit to the U.S. have not yet been released. However, reports suggest that discussions about the trip are currently underway—and Charles is expected to meet with Trump.
Meanwhile, William is understood to be planning his own trip later in the year to coincide with the World Cup, which kicks off in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in June.
It’s unclear whether William has made or will make any plans to see his younger brother, from whom he has been estranged for many years now.
In recent years, Harry has avoided bringing his children to the U.K. on the brief trips he has made to his home country, after his taxpayer-funded security was revoked by the government—a move that he said endangered the safety of his kids and his wife, Meghan Markle.
Meanwhile, Charles has been unable to make any major trips overseas since early 2024, when he was diagnosed with an unspecified cancer.
However, the British monarch revealed at the end of 2025 that his cancer treatment is being moved into a “precautionary phase,” which will allow him much more freedom as far as his official and personal engagements are concerned.
Harry may well be hoping that a reunion with his father at his Montecito home would afford them much more privacy than a highly publicized meeting at the king’s residences in the U.K.
Privacy and security are understood to have been one of Harry and Meghan’s main priorities when they were searching for their perfect home in the U.S., having relocated to California full time soon after quitting their roles as senior working royals in March 2020.
Interestingly, the couple happened upon their sprawling abode in a very real-life way—by trawling through online home listings.

“We were looking in this area, and this house kept popping up online in searches,” Meghan told The Cut of their house-hunting process during a 2022 interview.
Meghan admitted that she and Harry were initially concerned that they wouldn’t be able to afford the home, noting that—at the time—they were both unemployed.
“We didn’t have jobs, so we were just not going to come and see this house. It wasn’t possible,” she said. “It’s like when I was younger and you’re window shopping—it’s like, ‘I don’t want to go and look at all the things that I can’t afford—that doesn’t feel good.'”
However, her fascination with the nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom estate won out, and they went to view the home in person—with Meghan revealing that they fell in love with it before even setting foot inside.
“One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees,” she recalled. “We did everything we could to get this house.”
Since then, both Meghan and Harry have relaxed their boundaries with regard to sharing glimpses of the property—even going as far as to reveal videos and photos of their two kids playing in the grounds of the home.
Meghan’s Instagram account, which she relaunched on Jan. 1, 2025, is now peppered with candid snaps and clips of her children, who were even featured in the couple’s Christmas card, which showed a heartwarming image of the family posing in what appears to be their backyard.
The photo shows the Sussexes standing on a small wooden bridge over a natural creek, with Harry embracing his son, Archie, who, in turn, has his arms around his father’s waist.
Meanwhile, Meghan can be seen leaning down to face her daughter, with the two holding hands as they smile at each other.
