A GoFundMe was launched to support Michael Brown’s family with the 22-year-old’s medical and funeral expenses

After Michael Brown was injured in the Port Aransas collision, a fundraiser was established on GoFundMe on March 18 by his father James Shows and Kylie Mayfield. Initially seeking donations to help support Brown’s family with his unexpected medical expenses, the note attached to the fundraiser stated,

“Hi everyone. I’m speaking on behalf of the Brown family for our friend Michael. He was involved in a severe Jeep accident in Port Aransas Texas on Saturday evening, March 14, 2026. The accident resulted in serious injuries, mostly head injuries, and we’re still awaiting updates on his condition.”

While urging well-wishers to contribute to help Brown and his family, the fundraiser added,

“Michael is a great friend, uncle, son, and worker. During this difficult time, we want to rally together to support him and his family. Your donations will go directly towards covering his medical expenses and any additional support needed for his recovery. Please keep Michael in your thoughts and prayers, and consider contributing to help ease the financial burden on his family. Every bit counts, and your generosity is deeply appreciated. Thank you.”

The fundraiser seeks to raise $4,500. As of the writing of this article, it had collected about $675. Sometime after Brown’s passing, the title of the fundraiser was changed to reflect that the family would be needing help with his funeral expenses.
