Oren, Alon and Tal Alexander have been found guilty of multiple federal sex offenses
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York, issued a statement condemning the Alexander brothers’ crimes immediately following the jury’s verdict
The brothers now await sentencing, and each could face up to life in prison
Moments afterĀ a unanimous Manhattan jury found the three Alexander brothers guiltyĀ of multiple federal sex offenses, including conspiracy to commit sex trafficking, federal prosecutors issued a statement condemning the brothers’ “heinous abuse” and thanking the victims for their bravery coming forward.
“Federal sex offenses are all too prevalent in our society and all too often go unreported and unpunished,” readĀ the statementĀ issued by the Office of U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton. “Today, we take an important step in our fight against sex trafficking.”
“The verdict comes after a weeks-long trial where evidence and testimony from 11Ā brave victims demonstrated that the Alexander brothers conspired to repeatedly lure, drug, and rape young women,” the statement continues. “These are chilling, reprehensible, and unacceptable acts.Ā We commend the victims for their courage in coming forward and testifying at the trial.Ā They bravely overcame the pain of reliving theĀ abuses inflicted upon them and,Ā asĀ a result, prevented others from becoming victims.”
Clayton commended the jury for seeing the brothers’ conduct as “calculated, brutal sexual abuse” and encouraged New Yorkers who think they may be a victim of federal sex offenses to speak up.
“This verdict cannot undo the effects of heinous abuse the Alexandersā many victims endured, but it does send a message:Ā New Yorkers want to bring an end to sex trafficking in all our communities,” reads the statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Oren, Alon and Tal Alexander have dominated national headlines since December, when they were arrested at theirĀ multi-million dollar Miami properties; authorities allege that the brothers’ criminal activities extend all the way back to their high school days.
The jury ā comprised of six men and six women ā deliberated on 10 counts in total, including sex trafficking, conspiracy and sexual abuse, though not all defendants were charged with every count. All three were found guilty on Monday, March 9, following three days of jury deliberation, PEOPLE previously reported.
A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 6 ā where each brother faces up to life in prison.
