Brigitte Bardot’s Husband Breaks Silence On Moments Leading To Her Death

Brigitte Bardot, often referred to by her initials BB, died peacefully after months of pain forced her to lose the will to live.
The pop culture icon’s husband, Bernard d’Ormale, broke his silence on her final moments on the eve of BB’s funeral. He reflected on her health struggles and how she found peace in her last moments.
Brigitte Bardot rose to fame as an actress, singer, model, and animal rights activist. Although she stepped away from the entertainment industry in 1973, her status as one of the key symbols of the sexual revolution cemented her memory in the halls of female legends.

d’Ormale poured his heart out in a new interview, revealing he had been by Bardot’s side throughout the grueling months that led to her death. He explained that his late wife had taken her final breath on December 28, 2025, after two cancer surgeries had left her physically weakened.
According to the grieving husband, Bardot’s health worsened with severe back pain that eventually caused her to lose the will to live alongside her cancer battle. d’Ormale noted that she would express these negative emotions “during moments of physical suffering.”
Bardot, per his recollection, would say, “I’m fed up, I want to leave.” To ease her suffering, d’Ormale told French magazine Paris Match that he ensured to fulfill her every need in the final weeks of her life, which they spent together with BB’s beloved pets at her fisherman’s cottage in Saint-Tropez.

Although he had the support of nurses, Bardot’s husband noted that he was at the forefront of keeping her happy. d’Ormale noted that those final days they spent together will become a part of his most treasured memories, just like the day of his wife’s death.
Bardot died on December 28, a little before six in the morning, with her husband and cats sleeping next to her. d’Ormale recalled being half asleep until her loving voice reached him. “I sat up when I heard her say ‘Pioupiou,’ that little nickname we used for each other in private, and then it was over,” he shared.
“A sense of peace and tranquility settled over her face. And she became incredibly beautiful again, just like in her youth. You wouldn’t have believed she was 91,” d’Ormale added. As stated, his interview with the French magazine came a day before BB’s funeral in Saint-Tropez on Wednesday, January 7.

As reported by the Associated Press, Bardot received a public homage from Saint-Tropez during her funeral ceremony. Fans and residents took to the streets to applaud the funeral convoy as it passed by with the icon’s coffin.
A private service was held at the Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption Catholic Church, with BB’s husband, son, grandchildren, and loved ones in attendance. Members of the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the protection of animals also paid their respects.
Although fans and fellow mourners could not join the funeral guests inside the church, they did not miss the farewell ceremony. Hundreds reportedly gathered in the small town to watch the event on large screens placed at the port and on two plazas.
The Late Animal Rights Activist Will Be Buried Alongside Other Famous Figures

According to the media outlet, Bardot will be buried “in the strictest privacy” at a cemetery overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The grounds hold the bodies of her late parents, and it is also the final resting place of famous figures from the entertainment industry.
The list includes Bardot’s first husband, filmmaker Roger Vadim. He famously directed the late actress’s breakout movie, “And God Created Woman,” a role that gave her international recognition. BB retired from acting in 1973 at the age of 39 after making over two dozen movies.
Following her exit from the spotlight, Bardot revamped her image as a sex symbol to an animal rights activist and launched a foundation for the cause. She made Saint-Tropez her new home away from showbiz and soon became one of its most prominent ambassadors.

Besides making a splash as an actress and model, Bardot turned heads and raised quite a few eyebrows for her love life. She tied the knot for the first time at 18 to filmmaker Vadim in December 1952. Their marriage was over by 1957, after BB fell for actor Jean-Louis Trintignant.
Bardot’s romance with Trintignant didn’t last long as she soon moved on with actor and filmmaker Jacques Charrier. They tied the knot in June 1959 and welcomed a son, Nicolas-Jacques Charrier, on January 11, 1960.
However, BB’s second marriage ended with another alleged affair with Glenn Ford in the early 1960s. Hollywood Life reported that she tied the knot a third time to German millionaire Gunter Sachs in 1966, but their love ended in 1969. Finally, Bardot married d’Ormalee in 1992 at the age of 58.
Rest in peace, Brigitte Bardot.
