Nancy Guthrie’s home showed no signs of assault following her disappearance, with most rooms described as “immaculate,” according to a local law enforcement source.
A source close to the Nancy Guthrie investigation has reportedly claimed the home of the missing 84-year-old was in “immaculate” condition and showed “no signs of an assault” following her disappearance.
NewsNation correspondent Brian Entin shared the latest report, detailing how a local law enforcement source described the property as spotless, suggesting there were no telltale signs of an abduction inside the home.
Nancy, the mother of Today‘s Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since January 31, when police believe she was abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona. Since then, investigators have released doorbell camera footage of a masked suspect and shared a description of the potential abductor. No suspects have been named.
“This new information sort of makes sense with the big picture of what we know,” Entin said, per Realtor.com. “A source very close to the investigation now [confirms] to us that there were no signs of an assault inside Nancy Guthrie’s home, that most of the rooms were described as ‘immaculate,’ so the house was very, very clean.”
Entin noted how this matched the details Savannah shared in her recent sit-down interview with Hoda Kotb on the Today show. During the emotional segment, Savannah revealed that there were no immediate indications as to what happened to her mother inside the house itself.
“[It] makes sense when you go back to what Savannah said, which is that when her sister and brother-in-law showed up, they weren’t sure what happened,” Entin stated. “She had basically just vanished at one point. They had even thought that maybe an ambulance had taken her away. That’s because there was, according to this source, nothing in the house that appeared out of the ordinary.”
While the interior of the house was spotless, blood was found outside the front of the property, and the doorbell camera had been pulled from its frame. Savannah also revealed in her Today interview that the back doors to the home were “propped open,” leading her and her family to believe Nancy could have suffered “some kind of medical episode in the night.”
Entin touched on Savannah’s revelation that the back doors were “propped open,” reiterating that investigators have not yet determined whether the suspect(s) entered or exited through the front or rear of Nancy’s home.
