Audio recorded from the air traffic control tower reveals the chaotic sequence of events, starting with the controller urging the pilots to stop.

“Frontier 4195, just stop there please,” they are heard saying calmly.

Seconds later, they shout: “Stop, stop, stop, stop, truck one. Stop, stop, stop. Stop truck one. Stop.”

Moments after the warnings, the jet smashed into the emergency vehicle in a catastrophic collision.

Radio recordings show the moment controllers recognized the scale of the disaster, with one saying: “JAZZ 646, I see you collided with the vehicle.

“Just hold position. I know you can’t move. Vehicles are responding to you now.”

A controller is then heard saying: “I repeat, runway 422 is closed at this time […] Tower LaGuardia Airport is closed at this time.”

One person on the airwaves admitted “That wasn’t good to watch” before the controller responded, “Yeah I know I was here.”

Operations at LaGuardia have completely halted until at least 2 pm following the crash which involved an Air Canada Express aircraft.

Operating as Flight 8646 from Montreal, the Bombardier CRJ-900 had been carrying 72 passengers and four crew when it hit the vehicle at around 30mph on Runway 4.

The fire truck, staffed by Port Authority Police officers responding to an unrelated odor issue on a United plane, had been cleared to cross the runway moments before impact.

Two officers onboard the truck were seriously injured, suffering broken bones but are expected to survive.

Forty-one passengers and crew members were taken to the hospital – and 32 of them have since been released, Kathryn Garcia, the executive director of the airport operator, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said.

Some of the others still receiving care are suffering from serious injuries.

Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy said Monday morning he was heading to the airport – adding that investigators are looking into whether ATC staffing issues contributed to the crash.

“Please keep the victims, families and response teams in your prayers,” he wrote.

When asked about the wreck, President Donald Trump told reporters, “They made a mistake. It’s a dangerous business. That’s terrible.”

LaGuardia plane crash survivor speaks

By Katy Forrester, Assistant Editor (Exclusives)

A PASSENGER who suffered through the Air Canada plane crash that left the pilot and copilot dead has revealed the panic and chaos felt throughout the cabin.

Joe Capio, 29, and his fiancée Peyton Northrop, 27, both from New York, were on board the aircraft when it smashed into a fire truck on the runway Sunday night.

Speaking exclusively to The U.S. Sun, Joe said, “I’d say about 11.40pm, we were landing. It was a very smooth landing.

“We hit the ground, started to slow down.

“About 30 to 40 seconds into it. I don’t remember the exact timing, but everyone ended up jerking forward, abruptly. And then there was a loud crash and a bang.

“And then it felt like the plane was just skating down the runway for a good distance, until it came to a complete stop.

“Everyone was really confused and didn’t really know what was going on.

“The front of the plane was just warped sideways.”

Passengers, many who had already been injured, were screaming as they battled to escape the plane, Joe said.

He explained, “I was at the exit door, I just took the exit door off, and we all went on the wing and someone eventually came over and then we slid down the wing and they took us to the grass area on the tarmac.

“We were confused, shocked.

“My understanding is that there were some head injuries, people banged their heads on the back of the seat [in front of them].

“The seat in front of us was pretty far but the other people who are with us at the hospital have cuts on their heads.”

Asked if they have any injuries, he said, “My fiancée does, but we’re getting them checked out now, but to see the full extent on her body.”

Talking about those who lost their lives, he said, “I feel terrible about the pilots and I think they are honestly heroes.

“They probably saved everybody on that plane.

“I’m a loss for words, I don’t know what to say but my condolences.”

He added, “I don’t want to speculate on the cause of the crash but we were shaken up.”

Jack Cabot, a passenger on the Air Canada flight, relived the chaotic moment the plane smashed into the truck.

“It was a regular flight like always, but as we were arriving we came down really hard,” he told Fox News.

“And then […] we stopped really quickly. And about two seconds later we had an absolute slam. Everybody was flying everywhere.

“The plane started veering off left and right. […] I mean it was chaos.”

A female flight attendant was hurled through the front of the aircraft while still strapped into her seat, but miraculously survived, according to WNBC.

She was pulled from the wreckage by officers and rushed to the hospital.

Shocking images show the plane’s nose smashed with the aircraft pitched upward, and the fire truck flipped onto its side.

Debris was seen scattered across the soaked runway as emergency crews scrambled to the scene within minutes.

Cleanup efforts continued through the night, with the shattered aircraft and upturned fire truck still on the tarmac on Monday morning.

Despite the force of the crash, no passenger deaths have been reported, though their conditions are still being assessed.

The cause of the horror smash remains unclear.

Over 500 flights to and from the airport have been cancelled and tens of thousands of passengers were affected, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Investigators from the NTSB and the FAA have launched probes, with a specialist “go team” deployed to the scene.

Officials confirmed the airport has been shut down as crews comb through the wreckage.
