Pere Joan Devas, general manager of Poseidon Hotels, said he had been “very shocked” when the ceiling fell.

It is currently unknown what caused the incident at the three-star spot.

Benidorm City Council has confirmed a municipal architect has arrived at the scene to establish the possible causes and extent of the damage.

It is not the first such incident has plagued Benidorm hotels.

An entrance roof at the towering Gran Bali hotel crumbled onto the pavement outside in 2025.

Miraculously, no one was injured, but the incident prompted rapid repairs at the landmark.

In 2023, another hotel in the Rincon de Loix area suffered partial collapse during construction works, delaying its reopening.

A municipal architect has been sent to Poseidón Palace to determine the possible causes and the extent of the partial collapse of the plasterboard ceiling, local media reported.

Around 900,000 British tourists flock to Benidorm every year, making it a primary destination for UK holidaymakers in Spain.
