ENFIELD, CT (WFSB) – The stepfather of a 12-year-old girl who was found dead inside her home last month was in Hartford Superior Court on Monday to face a judge.
Enfield police charged 39-year-old Anthony Federline with risk of injury to a minor and first-degree sexual assault.

Anthony Federlin was charged on April 2, 2026 with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury, according to Enfield police.(Enfield police)
Federline pleaded not guilty to the charges.
A judge kept his bond at the previously issued $1 million. His public defender tried unsuccessfully to lower the bond to $500,000.
In a warrant released last week, investigators found 12-year-old Eve Rogers dead on the floor of her bedroom at her home on Elm Street in Enfield on March 18. According to the warrant, pills were found nearby and a sexual assault kit was performed. Police said she had a blanket over her body.
Police confirmed Federline’s charges stemmed from their investigation into Eve’s death.
It was revealed in court on Monday by prosecutors that the girl had been sexually assaulted and that Federline’s semen was found near her genital area. Prosecutors said the DNA was almost an exact match to Federline.
Cameras were not allowed inside the courtroom because of the sexual nature of the charges.
“Certainly, the emotions of an event like this and the impact that has on this community, or any community, are very understandable,” said Chief Alaric Fox of the Enfield Police Department last week.
Federline was also a school bus driver contracted for Enfield Public Schools through Smyth Bus Company. He has since been fired.
It came out in court that Federline has criminal charges from Massachusetts dating back to 2007 for firearm violations and probation violations.
Arlie Dosek, who saw the girl a couple of times and saw police outside their home, said the news was devastating.
“It’s just so sad. I know everybody has hoped that it wasn’t going to be something this tragic,” Dosek said.
Federline is not charged with his stepdaughter’s death at this time. Police said they are still investigating.
He is due back in court on May 5.
