Yesterday, while his agent was a guest on BFM TV, it was revealed that the FC Metz youth academy player (a Ligue 1 club) had “run back into the flames” to save his girlfriend. “Coline was there with Tahirys Dos Santos, a player from FC Metz […] It was thanks to his courage and quick reaction that Coline was able to be rescued,” said US Thionville Lusitanos in a statement released last night, also promoting a Leetchi fundraiser launched to support Coline Lanseigne and her family.

Thanks from Coline’s sister

“Seriously burned, Coline was transferred to a specialized unit in a hospital in Antwerp, Belgium,” the fourth-division French club also said, after being contacted by the young woman’s brother-in-law. Earlier, Stéphanie Lanseigne, Coline’s mother, had issued an appeal for help to find “accommodation for two people” in the Belgian city where Coline is hospitalized. According to her mother, Coline has been “very severely injured.”

“Those who know her know that Coline is a fighter, and she will fight,” the mother wrote in a Facebook post. According to Le Républicain Lorrain, the 22-year-old student from Creutzwald (Moselle) was in the restroom when the fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. She is reported to have suffered burns to around 30% of her body.

On Saturday, January 3, Valentine, Coline Lanseigne’s older sister, also spoke out on her Instagram account, paying tribute to Tahirys Dos Santos’ act of bravery:
“I still can’t believe it… My God… My sister. Thank you Tahirys, thank you, thank you, thank you!”
