Labor strategist Tim Picton has died more than three weeks after he was allegedly assaulted outside a nightclub.
A family spokesperson confirmed Picton died early on Monday morning, surrounded by his loved ones.
Picton was found unconscious outside a licensed premises in Northbridge, Perth, at 5.30am on December 27 after Western Australian police received reports of a disturbance.
The 36-year-old fell after being allegedly assaulted, striking his head on the pavement, with police saying several bystanders rushed to his aid.
‘We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Tim, who passed away earlier today surrounded by his family,’ the Picton family said in a statement.
‘His kindness, generosity and humour brought joy to our lives.
‘Tim – we love you, we miss you and we will always carry your memory with us.’

The Labor strategist was married to his wife Priya and the couple shared a four-year-old daughter Charlotte
The family said they appreciated the support shown by friends and colleagues across Australia.
‘We will be forever proud of Tim’s many extraordinary achievements and capacity for love, while knowing that he still had so much to give,’ the statement said.
Picton had been on life support at Royal Perth Hospital since the alleged attack.
The Labor strategist was married to his wife Priya and the couple shared a four-year-old daughter Charlotte.
‘Tim was a deeply devoted father and loving husband, son, grandson, brother and uncle,’ the family statement said.
The former political strategist played an instrumental role in guiding WA Labor to a landslide 2021 election victory, which left the opposition with just two seats.
Picton also previously worked as an advisor for Senator Don Farrell in the federal Gillard government, then in the office of former Victorian premier Daniel Andrews.
His latest role was strategy director for mining company Mineral Resources.

Picton was the brother of South Australian Health Minister Chris Picton.
Western Australian Premier Roger Cook and South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas said their thoughts were with Picton and his family following the alleged assault.
‘The whole Labor team are thinking of him and his family during this difficult time,’ Cook posted on X.
