Six Months of Love. Three Months of Betrayal. One Live Mic. Olympic Star Sturla Holm Lægreid’s On-Air Confession Leaves Millions Watching — Until His Girlfriend Finally Responds

Sturla Holm Lægreid, Bronze Medalist at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Admits to Infidelity and Is Not Forgiven by His Girlfriend

Norwegian athlete Sturla Holm Lægreid won the bronze medal in the men’s 20km individual biathlon event at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

However, instead of celebrating his achievement, Lægreid broke down in tears during a live television broadcast. He publicly admitted that he had betrayed his girlfriend three months before competing at the Olympics.

“I met her six months ago — the most beautiful and kind-hearted woman in the world. But three months ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life by cheating.

My eyes have only ever been on her. I don’t know why I’m saying this out loud, but over the past few days, I haven’t been able to fully focus on sport. I accept that society may hate me for this. Because at the very least, she will understand how deeply I love her.”

The 28-year-old athlete described his confession as a final “nuclear bomb,” hoping it might save the relationship. However, his attempt at redemption failed. Not only did he face widespread public criticism, he also did not receive forgiveness from his girlfriend.

His unnamed girlfriend later responded candidly:

“Even if he declares his love in front of the entire world, I still can’t get past the pain of being betrayed.”

With his hopes extinguished, the Norwegian sports star issued a public apology for bringing personal matters onto live television, acknowledging that it had negatively affected the image of his country’s sports community.

From a sporting perspective, Lægreid earned the bronze medal in the men’s 20km individual biathlon thanks to a strong cross-country skiing performance and an impressive shooting result, hitting 19 out of 20 targets. This marked the first Olympic medal of his career and serves as a stepping stone for future competitions.
