American pop star Britney Spears was reportedly seen swerving and speeding before being arrested for an alleged alcohol-related driving violation on the evening of March 4 (U.S. time).

According to Page Six, police dispatch audio revealed details about the singer’s erratic driving. In the recording, an officer said: “A black BMW is swerving between lanes and speeding. A 2026 BMW convertible has just left Los Angeles.”

Officers then followed the vehicle and signaled for it to pull over. “Speaking with the driver,” another officer reported over the radio, noting that the driver had stepped out of the car. The driver was later identified as Britney Spears.

Britney Spears is expected to appear in court this May.

Sources told TMZ that the singer was alone when police stopped her car around 9:30 p.m. in Westlake Village, an area not far from her home.

After the stop, officers took Spears to a hospital to obtain a blood sample in order to determine her blood alcohol concentration (BAC). After leaving the hospital, the singer was taken to the Ventura County jail for booking procedures at around 3 a.m. on March 4.

Spears was released at approximately 6 a.m. the same day and is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.

Although police have not yet released the official BAC test results, some sources claim Spears told people around her that her level was 0.06. In comparison, the legal limit in the state of California is 0.08%.

Shortly after the news broke, Spears’ manager issued a statement saying:
“This is an unfortunate situation and completely inexcusable. Britney will take the appropriate steps and comply with the law. We hope this will mark the beginning of necessary changes in her life.”

The manager also added that Spears’ two sons will spend time with her and that family members are working on plans to help the singer stabilize her health and life.

The incident comes just months after Spears was reportedly seen driving erratically after leaving the restaurant Red-O in October 2025. A witness said the singer “almost hit her own friend” in the parking lot. On the way home, she was allegedly switching lanes repeatedly, tailgating other vehicles, and even driving into a bike lane.

Britney Spears is one of the most successful pop stars in the world. She has won a Grammy Awards, released multiple platinum-certified albums, and sold more than 100 million records worldwide.

In 2012, Spears topped the list of most-searched artists on Yahoo and was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. According to Forbes, her net worth is currently estimated at around $60 million.

Despite her brilliant career, Spears’ personal life has been filled with turmoil. The singer has been married three times and has two sons, but she does not have primary custody of them. Her children currently live with her ex-husband Kevin Federline, and Spears has paid child support for many years.

Spears’ third husband was fitness trainer Sam Asghari. The couple dated for nearly six years and were married for less than two years before divorcing in 2023.

After the divorce, Spears was rumored to be dating Paul Richard Soliz, a maintenance worker who previously worked at her home. The relationship sparked controversy because the man reportedly has a complicated legal past.

Since her conservatorship ended in 2021, Britney Spears has frequently attracted attention on social media with controversial behavior. The singer has repeatedly posted dance videos with unusual expressions to her more than 41 million followers.

According to Page Six, members of Spears’ family are reportedly hoping to connect the singer with professional medical services so she can receive the support she needs in the coming period.
