Police said 17-year-old Ezekiel Rudy Almazan and an unidentified 16-year-old boy were killed in the shooting in Amarillo on May 2

A shooting at a Texas house party left two teenagers dead and 10 people injured — and two suspects are still at large.

The Amarillo Police Department (APD) said in a statement shared on Facebook that shots broke out at an apartment complex on the city’s South Coulter Street at around 2 a.m. local time on Saturday, May 2.

Police said the party, which was attended by “juveniles and young adults,” first began at another location and then moved to the apartment complex.

Investigators said initial evidence shows that several people were asked to leave the original location, and those people followed several partygoers to the South Coulter Street apartment complex. Police said they “attempted to enter an apartment and opened fire using a rifle-style weapon.”

Harrowing video footage, captured by a home security camera near the area where the shooting took place and shared publicly by police, shows several individuals running around the property as dozens of gunshots ring out.

Police identified the two deceased victims as 17-year-old Ezekiel Rudy Almazan and an unnamed 16-year-old boy. At least 10 other people sustained injuries, including gunshot wounds.

A Glock 9mm handgun was found on a landing outside an apartment unit, and investigators believe multiple weapons were used, based on cartridge casings recovered in an alley south of the apartment complex.

Police said that there are two unidentified suspects, and their relationship to the victims is “unknown,” although they noted that the shooting appeared to be a targeted attack. Investigators have not yet shared a motive for the incident.

In a May 2 statement, Amarillo Police Chief Thomas Hover said that an “investigation into this morning’s events have identified that the suspects have an affiliation with the targeted location and were known to one of the occupants at the party.”

“This criminal behavior is unacceptable, and the Amarillo Police Department and our regional law enforcement partners are committed to the safety of our community,” Hover added.

Police are now urging anyone with doorbell camera or security system footage of the incident or any other unusual activity in the area to share it with authorities.

“This investigation remains ongoing,” authorities noted. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”
