Tributes have been pouring in for the 33-year-old, who also has twin daughters aged seven, after she was killed at her home in Alhaurín el Grande, near Marbella.

It is unclear whether the girls witnessed the horror.

Emergency services were alerted at around 11.40am on Saturday, according to Spanish newspaper SUR.

Neighbours are said to have heard her cries and rushed to the home, where she was later found with stab injuries.

Paramedics attended the scene but were unable to save her after she suffered multiple stab wounds.

A kitchen knife was recovered from the scene and seized by investigators.

It comes as a man said to be her ex-partner was arrested on suspicion of murder.

According to local paper Malaga Hoy, the suspect handed himself in at nearby Alhaurín de la Torre Prison, allegedly telling staff: “Arrest me, I’ve done something very bad.”

“We need to stand up against domestic violence in this country and work against those who are protecting these animals.

“My prayers are with the family at this terrible time.”

Another friend, Elaine Mawer, added in a message to a relative of Victoria’s believed to be her mum, said: “I am heartbroken. This should never have happened.

“Them poor children. Deepest condolences to Sue Hart and all the family. Victoria will be very sadly missed.”

Joanne Wilson wrote: “There’s no words in this world that could describe a beautiful person, a great mother, a great friend. Victoria Hart you will be missed.

“My heart is broken and I still can’t believe it. RIP my angel. I will miss you more than anyone in this world would think.

Officers from the Civil Guard launched an urgent search before detaining him.

Cops are continuing to probe the exact circumstances of the killing.

A spokesman for the Civil Guard in Málaga said: “The Civil Guard is investigating the death of a woman in Alhaurin el Grande.

“Her ex-partner has been arrested as the alleged killer.”

Hairdresser and beautician Victoria moved to Spain from the West Midlands and ran a business from the property where she was killed.

Her estranged husband, who was from Alhaurin el Grande, reportedly had a restraining order preventing him from approaching her or going to the family home.

He also managed a chicken rotisserie in the town of nearly 28,000 inhabitants.

The victim is understood to have been registered on the VioGen system, created in 2004 as part of a Spanish law against gender violence.

An autopsy is due to take place later today.

Victoria’s estranged husband is expected to appear in court tomorrow, where a judge is likely to remand him in custody pending an ongoing criminal investigation.

The hearing will take place behind closed doors.

In a statement, Alhaurín el Grande Town Council said it expressed its “deepest sorrow” and condemned the incident as an act of gender violence.

The statement added: “The town council would like to convey our deepest condolences and support to the victim’s family and friends, as well as our absolute rejection and condemnation of this act of gender-based violence, a social scourge that seriously violates human rights and which we must eradicate with the involvement of the whole of society.”
