A FIREFIGHTER has been arrested after he bludgeoned his wife to death with an axe, and then told cops to check on her, police said.
Cops cuffed Andrew Jimenez, 45, after they walked into his and wife Mayra’s Los Angeles, California home and discovered a horrific scene.

Neighbors say they heard a fight break out in the house located in San Fernando Valley, which is part of Los Angeles County, on Wednesday.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Jiminez then walked to a nearby station and asked passing officers to do a wellness check at his home.
He claimed that he had tried to get in touch with Mayra, but wasn’t able to, cops said.
Terrified residents hanging outside Jiminez’s house said detectives had been chatting about the gruesome scene.

They watched in disbelief as crews brought cases of evidence out of the property, including two rifles.
“It’s like a horrific crime scene over there,” Camilla Cabrera told Fox affiliate KTTV.
“I hear the detectives talking how it’s something really out of a horror flick.”
Speaking with reporters gathered at the property, Lieutenant Guy Golan said the incident was an isolated act of domestic violence, and that the public was safe.

A lawyer representing Jimenez claimed the accused killer had found Mayra’s diary the night of the killing, and that it confirmed she had been unfaithful, KTTV reported.
Neighbors were shocked to hear of the firefighter’s arrest, as they said the couple was known to walk around the quiet neighborhood and never argued in public.
Mayra was a teacher as a local elementary school who was remembered as a “caring education” by United Teachers Los Angeles, where she was a member.
One union member said he had attended the couple’s wedding in 2014, and that he never knew of any signs of conflict between the pair, KTLA reported.
Jimenez had been serving at the Glendale Fire Department as a firefighter and paramedic since 2008, and was recently awarded a promotion.
He’s been placed off duty and on administrative leave.
Jimenez is now behind bars on suspicion of murder and was assigned a $2 million bail.
