Family members of the Idaho students murdered by Bryan Kohberger have spoken out after photos from the gruesome crime scene were released.
“We got a call at 11:04 a.m. that photos would be released this afternoon,” the family of Kaylee Goncalves shared via Facebook on Tuesday, January 20. “By the time the call ended (12 minutes later) the photos had already been released (likely they had been available before the call, we just didn’t know it yet). That’s the ‘heads up’ we received.”

Goncalves, 21, along with friends Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were brutally stabbed to death in their Moscow, Idaho, apartment on November 13, 2022. Photos show blood splattered, smeared and pooled inside the victims’ bedrooms.
The family begged for kindness and encouraged viewers to put themselves in their shoes.
“Murder isn’t entertainment & crime scene photos aren’t content,” the statement continued. “Kaylee Jade, I am so sorry that this has happened to you. I am so sorry that people who never even knew you, now post about you, suggesting things about your life that are so untrue. We will never quit fighting for you.”

“We know so many of you arm chair detectives will turn this into your show(profits) zooming into things, ‘analyzing blood splatter’, suggesting that things ‘don’t add up’ yada yada yada,” the Goncalves family continued in their social media post. “It’s disrespectful and gross.”
The former criminology graduate student, 31, pleaded guilty to the murders in order to avoid the death penalty. He is currently serving four life sentences without parole.
