A disgraced small-town mayor sent several frantic texts to her family and the mother of a 16-year-old boy after she was allegedly caught having sex with the teen at a booze-fueled pool party, according to a report.
Misty Roberts, the 43-year-old former leader of DeRidder, La., texted her ex-husband Duncan Clanton after her own son allegedly caught her committing the disturbing sex crime at a 2024 party, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Daily Mail.
“I need to talk to you,” Roberts texted Clanton, according to the court papers. “I just need to tell you in person.”
“I f—ked up. And I respect you enough to tell you. And I need to,” Roberts said.

Clanton’s replies were omitted from the court papers, which also revealed that the teen victim’s mother texted Roberts — asking the former mayor whether she could be pregnant.
“Out of respect for both our families, can you assure me that you can’t be pregnant?” the 16-year-old boy’s mother asked Roberts.
“Yes” Roberts replied.
“So no protection? Are you on birth control, have you had tubal, hysterectomy??” the mother pressed.
Roberts replied that she was on “birth control,” but that the romp “didn’t reach that point in those few minutes to have that concern.”
“I understand the concern. But, I can assure you of that,” she continued.
On the same day, Roberts sent multiple texts to a juvenile with the initials “H.R.” the documents showed. It is not immediately clear whether they were sent to her son.
“I love you and I am so sorry,” Roberts texted H.R. “ I cannot even believe it. I am sick.”
“That shouldn’t happen,” she added.
“I really hope this doesn’t blow up even worse… I’m scared to death.”
Robert’s was initially charged with rape.
But she now faces two charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile, according to reports. She’s pleaded not guilty.
Jurors at Robert’s trial heard that a local DoorDash driver had delivered emergency Plan B contraception to her home in 2024 — possibly in connection with the alleged tryst, the outlet reported.
The criminal complaint obtained by the outlet additionally revealed that Roberts had “pressed her butt up against” the alleged victim while taking a photograph of him.
“She made statements about being attracted to the [victim], she put her hand on the bare torso area of the [victim] while making said comments to him,” the complaint alleged.
The mayor then allegedly told the teen “We can’t do this here,” and led him to the “bonus room” of her home, locked its doors, and lay down on the couch with the boy and kissed him, the papers continued.
Robert’s teenage son took a photo of the boy on top of his mother, and said in an interview played for jurors that he saw his mom having sex with his pal through a crack in a window, according to KPLC.
Her daughter also testified in an interview with officials that she saw her mother and the teenage boy “on top of each other that night.”
Roberts resigned as mayor of DeRidder, a town of 9,800, days before her 2024 arrest.
