Kohberger enjoyed party games and vegan cookies in the days leading up to his arrest
BRYAN Kohberger’s sister has revealed that she warned her brother about a “psycho killer” at large – without realising he was the murderer.
The sadistic killer later pleaded guilty to the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students and received four consecutive life sentences.

Mel Kohberger recalled phoning her brother to tell him to “be careful” of the Idaho killer, before he assured her that he would be safe.
She revealed that the family had played party games as Kohberger gobbled down vegan cookies in the days before his arrest in an interview with The New York Times.
She also recalled how her brother faced incessant bullying in his teens for being overweight and anti-social.
At the time, Kohberger referred to himself as “an organic sack of meat with no self-worth” and said he had no emotion and little remorse in a chilling series of online posts.
The troubled teen soon became a heroin junkie and sold his sister’s phone to fund the habit.
Mel and her family believed Kohberger was en route to an early death before the druggie entered a treatment facility and seemingly turned his life around.
She said: “We were all so proud of him because he had overcome so much.”
Kohberger was just one term into studying for a Ph.D. in criminology at Washington State University when the vicious killings occurred.
Mel said he only briefly mentioned the case once on his return to the family’s Pennsylvania home that Christmas – a month after the slayings.
After his December 30 arrest, Mel told the NYT that their sister, Amanda, phoned her with the life-changing news.
“She was like, ‘I’m with the FBI. Bryan’s been arrested,’” Mel said. “I was like, ‘For what?’”
“The Idaho murders,” Amanda responded.
The family were later dogged by online accusations that they had been aware of the murders, but had covered for Kohberger.
Mel seethed over the claims she was complicit, adding: “I have always been a person who has spoken up for what was right.
“If I ever had a reason to believe my brother did anything, I would have turned him in.”
A harrowing trove of documents released in the aftermath of Kohberger’s sentence show the true depravity of his crimes.
Bodycam footage from officers at the crime scene taken just after noon on the day of the murders in which they spoke to Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, the only two survivors of the horror attack.
In the 52-minute video shared by The Moscow Police Department with the Law & Crime Network, one of the survivors, who had her face blurred out, gave a haunting account of what took place.
Not only did she come face-to-face with the killer, she also overheard Kohberger’s chilling last words to one of the victims moments before killing her.
“They were in the main room dancing and laughing,” she said of the roommates moments before Kohberger was discovered in the house.
“Kaylee went upstairs and she screamed that someone’s in the room.
“I heard a scream and she ran downstairs because she saw someone.

“That’s when I’m pretty sure she said ‘someone’s here’…I jumped up and locked my door because I was so scared.
“I heard some guy say that ‘you’re gonna be okay, I’m gonna help you’ and I kept calling her name but she wasn’t answering and then I opened the door for a second and I saw this guy.”
Investigators have since told ABC News that they believe it was Kernodle who said “somebody’s here” before running down the stairs.
They also think it was her Kohberger was trying to reassure saying, “It’s okay, I’m here to help you.”
Despite running into the killer, the unidentified roommate said he made no move towards her which she found “really confusing” but gave her time to lock the door.
The man who was later confirmed as Kohberger was dressed in black with a mask covering his forehead and mouth, she said.
She added that his voice while talking to Kernodle was unusual in tone.
“I don’t know how to explain it. Like it wasn’t in a nice way. It was a weird way. Like a weird tone,” she said.

Just after 4am Funke & Mortensen joined up and locked themselves away in Funke’s room where they fell asleep, unaware of the horrors that had taken place on the floor above.
“We just locked the door, we didn’t think anything of it. We’re like, ‘Nothing happens in Moscow,’ so we just tried to go to bed,” the roommate told cops.
