Behind Closed Doors: Every Time the Kelce Family Talked About Getting to Know Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are heading down the aisle, and the Kelce family will likely have a major presence in the wedding itself. (We can imagine four very cute flower girls!) Those nearest and dearest to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end have been open about how much they’ve loved getting to know their future in-law, and their appreciation for her goes beyond just her superstardom and having fun in suite seats.

“I am so incredibly happy for them. We are so excited that they are taking this next step,” future sister-in-law Kylie shared right after news of their engagement broke. “The girls are so excited to get another aunt. I am so truly happy for them, and I feel so grateful that we get to welcome Taylor into our family in a more official capacity.”

Though Kylie Kelce is fairly tight-lipped when it comes to details about her brother-in-law’s love life (recently declaring “no one’s f—ing telling you anything” about the upcoming nuptials) she has taken a few moments to praise Swift on her podcast, Not Gonna Lie, including her “badass” quote clapping back at critics of her appearances at Arrowhead Stadium.

And though she has praised Swift’s music (her girls are fans), it’s actually her talent in the kitchen that got the biggest shoutout around Thanksgiving 2025: “We do have well-known bakers in the family — Donna [Kelce]’s dinner rolls, big hit. Grandma Mary had great chocolate chip cookies. Taylor [Swift] makes a bangin’ sourdough loaf. I mean, it’s so good —and Pop Tarts.”

She also feels no rivalry with her future sister-in-law, not even when it comes to podcast views. After Swift’s appearance on the Kelce brothers’ podcast New Heights broke viewership records, Kylie declared she was feeling “great” about losing the title.

“I’m always cheering on Taylor and everything that she does,” Kylie said. “The fact that I finally got dethroned, it was welcomed.”

Jason Kelce Says Taylor Has Expanded Travis’ Palate

During a May 6 episode of New Heights, Jason and wife Kylie let it be known that prior to being with Swift, Travis’ food palate was a bit limited.

“We won’t use this in the episode, but I feel like Taylor’s definitely expanded…” Jason began before Travis cut in and said, “Use it. We can f—ing use it. There’s nothing wrong with that.”

Kylie, who was a guest on the show, added, “He’s more adventurous with food.”

“Yeah, I’m more of a man when I’m around her and eat foods I haven’t tried before!” Travis conceded.

Donna Kelce Raves About Taylor’s Appearance on ‘New Heights’

On Aug. 13, Travis and Jason thrilled fans by featuring the “Blank Space” singer on an episode of their podcast, New Heights. And though she gets a front row seat to their love, Travis’ mom, Donna, was happy to see the couple sharing a glimpse of their relationship with fans.

“I did watch the podcast … and I think it was just really, really eventful,” Donna told PEOPLE of the episode in which Swift unveiled the album art for her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, kissed her boyfriend, shared her “obsession” with baking sourdough bread and teared up when talking about regaining the rights to her music.

“It was authentic. It was just something I think everybody was thrilled to see, and it was a very loving podcast,” Donna added.

While at The Kingdom premiere, Travis’ dad, Ed, also gave his insights on the lovebirds’ relationship. Asked where Travis’ happiness stems from these days, the patriarch was swift to answer, “Oh, Taylor. There’s no question about it.”

He also revealed he thought Swift’s record-breaking appearance on New Heights was “so good.”

“I think it was awesome,” he added. “It was great to see them go back and forth. They’re two people obviously very much in love.”

Up until Taylor’s appearance on New Heights, Kylie had reigned supreme as the most-viewed guest on the show. Taylor’s episode usurped the Not Gonna Lie host’s prior appearances, and Kylie had no issues passing the baton.

While appearing on the Pivot Podcast as the 2024 football season kicked off, Jason shared which one of Swift’s hits his then-3-year-old daughter Elliotte had been singing on repeat.

“I’ve been listening a lot to ‘I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,'” the dad of three said.

“There’s a line in that where ‘I’m a real tough kid. I can handle my s—,'” he said. “Ellie’s 3 years old and she says, ‘I’m a real tough kid. I can handle my stuff.’ That’s all I hear on a daily basis, because it gets a laugh out of me every time.”

Ed Kelce on ‘America’s Girl’

In his first interview since Travis and Taylor became an item, Ed Kelce told PEOPLE he watched interviews and appearances with the “Bejeweled” singer in an effort to get to know her better.

Ed admitted he’s “gone back and listened to interviews she’s done over the years” since meeting Swift “because it gives you a sense of what a person is like.”

Specifically, “she did a commencement address at NYU and I thought that was pretty cool,” Ed shared, explaining that watching Swift speak in interviews “just confirms my initial impression of her,” which is that “she’s a very genuine, down-to-earth” person.

“She’s America’s girl,” added Ed, who was first seen with Swift in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium on Oct. 12, during the Kansas City Chiefs home game against the Denver Broncos.

Ed continued to sing Swift’s praises, telling PEOPLE about the acts of kindness the decorated singer demonstrated.

“I’ll tell you something very special that I noticed about Taylor the first time I met her,” Ed began, “We’re sitting in the suite, she gets up and in the front room, she gets up to go get a drink or something and she starts picking up empty bottles, cans, plates that are scattered around. Because in the suites, everybody gets stuff and you empty it down wherever you can.”

He continued, “And I’m just thinking, I don’t think she got the diva memo. She didn’t get the spoiled musician. She doesn’t know how to pull that off. And that really to me said a whole lot,” he told PEOPLE. “She’s very smart. I mean, very. That comes through right away.”

While she’s a big fan of the “Cruel Summer” singer now, Donna admitted she wasn’t a Swiftie prior to meeting her.

“I would say not,” Donna told PEOPLE, when asked if she would use the label that mega fans of Swift call themselves. “My era was Earth, Wind and Fire, Chaka Khan, things like that. That’s more my music.”

“But obviously, talent is talent,” she added.

After Donna and Taylor were seen whispering in the suite during a Chiefs game, millions of Swifties and NFL fans were curious to know what the pair was chatting about in between plays.

During an appearance on the Today show, Donna joked that she’ll “never tell” what she and Swift talked about.

She did clarify that the moment in question was actually purely procedural.”You know what it was, I was talking about this: You know when the commercial people come out in the orange gloves and they’re on the field. I was mentioning when they go like this,” she said as she moved her hands in a circle, adding, “the commercial is over and they can play again.”

During an appearance on the Got It From My Momma podcast on Oct. 6, 2024, Donna Kelce revealed that hanging out with the pop star during Kansas City Chiefs games this season had been a surreal experience.

“I feel like I’m in an alternate universe, because it’s something I’ve never been involved with before,” Donna told host Jennifer Vickery Smith.

Donna added that she’s surprised that the hype around her son’s romance has yet to die down, saying the last few weeks have been a “whirlwind,” and that there seemingly is no end in sight.

In a viral TikTok posted by Kylie, the couple’s oldest daughter asked mom questions about a football game they were watching.

The two were cuddled together watching the Eagles take on the Los Angeles Rams as Wyatt, then 4, asked who’s who on the field.

“Just another swiftie tryna learn football, or a kid tryna avoid a nap. Who knows? #GoBirds,” the mom of three joked in the caption, giving a subtle nod to Travis’ budding romance with the Grammy winner.

While Jason was always a big supporter of Travis’ relationship, he admitted to NBC Sports back in 2023 that the public interest in the new couple is “a lot.”

“It’s certainly been weird, the level that it is now,” he said. “On one hand, I’m happy for my brother that he seems to be in a relationship that he’s excited about, that he is genuine about. But there’s another end of it where it’s like, ‘Man, this is a lot.’ ”

He continued, “There’s paparazzi talking about him fueling his car before the game today and I’m like, ‘Is that really necessary information to share?’ ”

“This is another level of stardom that typically football players don’t deal with. And so on one hand, really, really happy for my brother and where he’s at in his current situation with Taylor but on the other hand, there’s some, I think, alarms sometimes with how you know, over-in-pursuit people can be,” he told NBC Sports.

Nonetheless, the protective big bro remains happy for his sibling, as long as he is safe. “Overall, he can deal with some of this,” Jason added. “As long as it’s not, you know, becoming a threat to his safety and things like that.”

Jason Kelce on Taylor Joining the Eagles’ Christmas Album

For the second Philadelphia Eagles’ Christmas album — an annual recording of holiday songs done to raise money for charity — the team managed to tap the legendary Patti LaBelle to sing a duet with offensive tackle Jordan Mailata.

And according to Jason, there are plenty more duets to go around should one “Shake It Off” singer feel inclined to join in on the holiday fun.

“Maybe, not this one, not this time around,” he said while on the Today show. “That would be pretty incredible, maybe in the future,”

“I can’t say Taylor Swift. Come on, it’s too obvious. Travis would kill me,” Jason said in 2023 when asked who his dream New Heights podcast guest would be in a video shared by NFL on NBC.

So who was his dream guest, actually? His Aunt Judy.

Jason Kelce’s Internet-Breaking Joke

When Swift first started showing up to Kansas City Chiefs games, fans wanted to know whether there was a budding romance or the visits were just friendly. And because details were so scarce, Swifties grabbed hold of anything they could — including a not-so-subtle Jason Kelce prank on the fandom.

While on Audacy SportsRadio 94WIP, Jason was asked about the rumored romance and though sarcastic, his answer caused a firestorm among Swifties and Chiefs nation alike.

“It’s hard to answer because I don’t really know a lot about Travis’ love life,” the Eagles center said. “I try to keep his business kind of his business, stay out of that world.” But, he added, “having said that, man, I think they’re doing great and I think it’s all 100% true, and I hope this thing goes a mile — no, I’m joking, I don’t know what’s happening.”

He would later take back the joke, saying, “My reaction was exactly, this is exactly what I think is gonna happen. She’s gonna go to the game, and the whole world’s gonna lose their goddamn mind,” Jason said of his joke taking off.

“That’s exactly what I thought was gonna happen… 7:30 in the morning, I’m happy that WIP [the radio show] got the [publicity] for it, but I was just trying to be sarcastic,” he added.

All in all, the former Eagles star said it was “fun watching the whole world” take in Swift’s presence at the Chiefs game.
