The island holiday hotspot is notorious for wild dog attacks, including a ten-year-old boy who was dragged into the sea
A 19-YEAR-OLD woman has been found dead surrounded by a pack of dingoes at a popular tourist beach.
The Canadian was found mauled on K’gari, a holiday hotspot island off the coast of southeast Queensland, Australia.

She had gone for a swim near the Maheno Shipwreck at around 5am on Monday morning.
Tragically, her body was found an hour later, with serious wounds from what appeared to be dingo bites.
Cops said she was surrounded by around 10 of the wild dogs.
Two men driving past the beach reported the body, later revealed to be the 19-year-old backpacker.
Wide Bay District Inspector Paul Algie called it “a very traumatic and horrific scene for them to uncover”.
He added that the woman had been working on the island with a friend for six weeks before the horrific accident.
He said: “[Her friend] is very traumatised, she’s been supported by her friends at the backpackers where they were working.”
It is not yet known if the woman drowned and then was attacked by the wild dogs, or whether the canines killed her.
Algie said: “We simply can’t confirm whether this young lady drowned or died as a result of being attacked by dingoes.”
He added that her body had been “touched and interfered with” by the animals and gave a warning to tourists, calling the dogs “culturally significant” to locals.

He said: “I implore all people that visit K’gari, which is a beautiful place, that you do not go near dingoes, that you do not feed dingoes and that you just leave them to live their life and you need to move around them accordingly.
“Dingoes are wild animals, and whilst they are very culturally and significant to the local First Nations people and to the people that live on the island, they are still wild animals and need to be treated as such.”
The island is notorious for dingo attacks – a 10-year-old boy was dragged into the water by the wild dogs in 2023.
He was bitten and pulled under the water by the predator after walking along the water’s edge.
But the boy was miraculously saved when his brave 12-year-old sister intervened, and luckily got away without serious injuries.
Just weeks after the terrifying incident, two women were mauled by dingoes at the tourist hotspot, as one of the animals circled a group of beach-goers.

A French tourist was bitten on the bum by a dingo while sunbathing on the same beach.
Despite dingo attacks, shipwrecks and killer fauna, the island is so popular that tourists need to get a special permit to visit.
