THE parents of a Canadian teen found dead and encircled by a pack of wild dogs have slammed the decision to put the dingoes down.

Piper James, 19, was found dead and surrounded by a pack of dingoes on a tourist beach on K’gari, a popular island off the coast of southeast Queensland, Australia.

She had set her alarm early for a sunrise swim near the Maheno shipwreck last week, while on a dream trip with her best friend.

But Piper’s body was discovered that same morning, mauled by the wild dogs which prowl the island.

Authorities have now announced they will cull the animals involved in her death.

Yet Piper’s family have objected, slamming the decision as the opposite of what their nature-loving daughter stood for.

Her dad Todd James said: “We never wanted a cull for the dingoes, and I don’t think Piper would be supportive of any animals being put to sleep or euthanised because of a mistake that she made to put herself in that vulnerable position.”

Angela James, Piper’s mum, said that euthanising the wild dogs was the “last thing” their daughter would want.

She told the ABC: “She loved all animals, no matter what,” Angela James told the broadcaster.

“She wouldn’t want anything done to [the dingoes], they were there first. She knew that.”
