WAYNE ROONEY’S controversial Arsenal comments were “proven right” as Manchester United fans declared “they couldn’t even beat our 2026 team.”

The Red Devils were left celebrating on Sunday after leaving the Emirates with a 3-2 win.

Michael Carrick guided his men to a second straight victory against a top opponent, having already downed Arsenal’s title rivals Man City.

The gap at the top of the table has now been cut to just four points.

And the Gunners will once again be forced to defend a narrow lead after relinquishing top spot over the past several seasons.

United were sublime at times as they battled back from a goal down to secure the win in North London.

But he had the last laugh as Arsenal couldn’t even do the business against a far inferior Red Devils team today.

United fans quickly threw their weight behind Rooney, declaring his comments to be justified as a result.

One said: “He’s been proven right.”

Another boomed: “Arsenal couldn’t even beat our 2026 team.”

One noted: “Our 2008 team would beat this lot 6-0.”

Another added: “In reality they’d win 1-0, all of them are over 40 years old now.”
