Alonso left Real Madrid earlier this month – ending a Bernabeu reign which lasted just 34 games.

And Liverpool are looking to hand him a quickfire route back into management.

AS report that the reigning Premier League champions have made contact with Alonso after the pressure has continued building on Slot.

Liverpool want the former midfielder in charge for the start of next season and have not ruled out moving sooner.
