In his first public comments since the explosive breakdown of Lachie Neale’s marriage, Tess Crosley’s husband Ben Crosley has broken his silence with a raw and furious statement, accusing his wife of “brazen” and “inappropriate” behaviour toward Neale’s young daughter in the months leading up to the scandal that has rocked the AFL world.

The revelations come amid ongoing allegations that Tess Crosley, a former close friend of the Neale family, was involved in an affair with the Brisbane Lions co-captain — claims that surfaced after Jules Neale’s December 2025 Instagram post accusing her husband of “unimaginable betrayal.” While neither Tess nor Lachie has confirmed the affair, the fallout has been swift and brutal: Jules relocated to Western Australia with their children Piper (4) and Freddie (1), and Lachie has admitted to an “unfixable mistake” while focusing on his football career.
In an exclusive interview with The Courier-Mail, Ben Crosley, a private businessman who has remained largely out of the spotlight, described the pain of discovering his wife’s alleged involvement. “She had the nerve to do that openly in front of the children,” he said, referring to what he claims were repeated visits by Tess to the Neale family home during Jules’ absences. “Piper is only four. She would ask why ‘Aunty Tess’ was always there when Daddy was home alone. I thought it was innocent friendship. I was wrong.”
Ben alleged that Tess had formed an unusually close bond with Piper in particular — taking her to playgrounds, buying her gifts, and spending time at the family home even when Jules was interstate visiting relatives. “It felt like she was trying to insert herself into their family,” he said. “Looking back, it was brazen. She knew exactly what she was doing.”
The comments have intensified public outrage toward Tess Crosley, who has maintained a defiant social media presence throughout the scandal, posting cheerful holiday content without her wedding ring or her husband visible. Ben confirmed the couple is now separated and that he has moved out of their family home. “I’m protecting our daughter,” he said. “That’s my priority now.”
Lachie Neale has not directly addressed the allegations about Tess’s interactions with his children, but sources close to the Lions say he is “deeply ashamed” and focused on co-parenting. Jules Neale, who has remained in Perth, has not commented publicly since her initial statement but is said to be “devastated” by the claims involving her daughter.
The AFL has stayed silent on the personal matter, while the Lions have supported Neale’s return to pre-season training, describing him as “professional and focused.” Legal experts say any inappropriate behaviour toward the children could complicate future family law proceedings, particularly custody and property settlements involving the $2.4 million family home in Fig Tree Pocket.
The scandal has divided the football community. Many fans have rallied around Jules and the children, calling Tess’s alleged actions “disgusting” and “predatory.” Others defend her right to privacy, arguing the full story remains unconfirmed. Tess Crosley has not responded to requests for comment.
As the off-season drama continues to dominate headlines, Ben Crosley’s decision to speak out has added a new layer of pain to an already heartbreaking saga. What began as a marriage breakdown has now exposed allegations of betrayal that reach into the most vulnerable part of the family — the children. For the Neales and Crosleys, the road to healing — if it exists at all — looks longer and more painful than ever.
