The friend manages to board through an open door as the train picks up speed.
In a heart-stopping second, the father loses his footing and slips into the gap between the train and the platform at Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj railway station, northern India.
Still clutching his son, the pair are dragged along the platform by the hurtling Train No. 15018 Kashi Express train almost being pulled under and onto the tracks.
Railway staff notice the commotion and rush to help them as waiting passengers watch on in horror.

It comes after another train crash tragedy rocked Spain just days after a crash claimed the lives of at least 42 people.
The latest horror in Barcelona has claimed the life of the driver and seriously injured five others.
A further 32 people are thought to have sustained injuries of varying descriptions.
This latest incident took place near Barcelona – between the towns of Gelida and Sant Sadurni d’Anoia.
The deceased driver was trapped in the cabin with three other crew members who had to be rescued from the mangled wreckage.
According to Catalonia region’s civil protection agency, the crash was caused by a “retaining wall [collapsing] onto the tracks”.
Shockingly, this was not the only rail incident to befall Catalonia on Tuesday.

This spate of horror crashes comes only two days after two high-speed trains derailed near the southern Spanish city of Cordoba.
