Absolute Madness in New York: Diehard Knicks Fans Risk It All to Celebrate Historic NBA Title

Knicks Fever Takes Over NYC: Fans Climb Trees, Fire Escapes, and Scaffolding for a Glimpse of the Champions

Diehard Knicks fans could not be stopped trying to catch a glimpse of the NBA champs after their first title in more than half a century, desperately climbing scaffolding, fire escapes — and even precarious treetops nearly two-stories high.

Wild video from the streets of lower Manhattan Thursday show rowdy Knicks doing anything and everything they can to get a view of the team’s first ever ticker tape parade — which is already believed to be one of the biggest city history.

One maniac in a Knicks jersey dared to scale to the very top of a tree, where the branches seemed dangerously thin.

Elsewhere, hoards of fans decked out in orange and blue could be seen running around on top of scaffolding, hyping up the mob of ecstatic fans below, video from the street shows. Other fans dared to hop up onto fire escapes for a better view, with video showing fans helping each other climb up.

In one chaotic scene, dozens of fanatics even packed on top of a pair of NYPD vans.

At least 20 revelers climbed on top of the South Ferry Station during the Knicks championship celebration — and ignored an MTA worker who pleaded with them to get down as they chanted “Knicks in five.”

Hundreds more could be seen climbing balconies, light posts and trees.

Luka Bouras, 15, of Westchester, climbed a tree where he stayed for hours — but instead of Jaylen Brunson and Karl Anthony-Townes, all he was able to make out from so far away was “some tall ass dudes.”

But NYPD officers seemed to be letting rowdy Knicks fans slide as long as they don’t get too disruptive.

Cops told some fans to get off scaffolding with a man standing on top of a garbage bin downing a beer, but they were not about to blow up the celebration.

“What am I going to do?” an officer said. “He is not killing anybody.”
