The body of a woman was found under a Cross Bronx Expressway overpass

The body of a woman was found below an overpass of a highway in the Bronx.

The discovery of the body was reported by the New York Daily News and PIX 11.

According to the outlets, the body was found in the Bronx on Wednesday, May 20, beneath a Cross Bronx Expressway overpass.

The body was discovered after someone saw feet sticking out of a blanket, the Daily News reported, citing police.

“It happened right where I live, right where I work, right where I make my money,” Nathaniel Driskell, who saw the body, told the Daily News. “She was lying right there.”

Authorities work at the scene where the body of a woman in her late 20s to early 30s is removed from underneath an overpass near the Cross Bronx Expressway and Webster Avenue in the Bronx, New York, United States, on May 20, 2026.

Sources connected to the investigation told the paper that it was later determined that the body had been dragged from a nearby homeless encampment.

Driskell told the paper that the woman had lived with a group of people behind a closed restaurant but that none of them were present after the discovery of the body.

Police have not yet identified the woman, though PIX reported her body did not show any signs of trauma. According to the outlet, police believe she was in her 20s or 30s.
