A body has been discovered during the search for a missing 20-year-old university student, last seen leaving a nightclub in Lincoln — and what was found at the scene has left many deeply shaken.

A body has been found in the search for a 20-year-old student who went missing after leaving a nightclub in Lincoln.

Connor Calleja, who was a Lincoln University student, was last seen on CCTV walking along University Bridge at 2.09am on Sunday, January 11.

In a heartbreaking post on social media, his stepfather John Lewis said Connor had been denied admission to Home nightclub and had tried to make his way back to his accommodation.

Lincolnshire Police today confirmed that they had found a body during a search of the Foss Bank – a body of water close to the Brayford Pool.

Although formal identification had yet to take place, they believed the body was Connor.

Police said his family had been made aware and were being supported by specialist officers.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances, the force said.

A spokesperson added: ‘We ask the public and members of the media to respect the family’s privacy at this very difficult time.

‘We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and those who contacted us to share information.’
