The woman and her two children were brutally shot dead by restaurant owner Matthew Mitchell in Texas on Monday

The wife and business partner of a Texas restaurateur wrote a chilling social media post before her husband senselessly killed her and her two children. The couple owned a successful restaurant, Traveler’s Table, that was featured on Guy Fieri’s show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network.

Matthew Mitchell shot his wife and business partner, Thy Mitchell, and their two children, aged 8 and 4, dead

39-year-old Thy Mitchell and her two kids, Maya, eight, and Max, four, were shot dead by Matthew Mitchell, 52, on Monday night before the killer turned the gun on himself, according to cops. “Evidence on scene indicated the incident was a murder-suicide in which the male shot the three victims and then shot himself,” Houston police said.

10 days before the family massacre, Thy posted a video to her Instagram page where the couple could be seen standing together and looking into each other’s eyes.

“He thinks we will grow old together. He will, but I’m Asian,” she captioned the post.

While the video appeared harmless and a bit of fun at the time, users commented on its haunting nature after the horrific events on Monday. One person wrote, “The foreshadowing is chilling,” while another added, “If only she knew.”

“Yet another horrific act of domestic violence. They seemed to have it all. Why do these men have to wipe out their entire family — those poor little children included?” someone else said.

The couple owned the restaurant Traveler’s Table in Houston, and Matthew previously worked as CEO of the Texas Center for Drug Development. Matthew had studied in France, Italy, and at the prestigious Oxford University in England before embarking on an early career as a journalist in London and New York City.

On social media, the pair presented as any other happy family, with Matthew often appearing on his wife’s Instagram alongside their children.

Thy’s sister, Ly Mai, wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday, “We are heartbroken to share that my sister, Thy, and her beloved children, Maya and Max, passed away last night.

She added, “Our family is grieving deeply and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult time. Funeral arrangements will be shared when they are available. Thank you for your understanding and support.”

The Houston Police Department was alerted to the tragic event when they were called to the address shortly after 5:26 pm on Monday for a welfare check. A babysitter and a relative of one of the parents alerted officers after not hearing from anyone in the family for over a day, police said.

Upon entering the home, the officers found the parents and their two children dead inside.

“I’ve lived in this neighborhood for 19 years and never seen anything like this. We haven’t had these kinds of tragedies. We don’t have robberies. We have incredible constables in this neighborhood, but it’s very sad,” a neighbor told local news station Click2Houston.
