Even after he was released from custody by police in the Bahamas, Brian Hooker is planning to help with the search for his missing wife, Lynette.
Lynette has been missing since she “reportedly fell overboard” while on a dinghy with Hooker on April 4, police in the Bahamas said.
After her disappearance, police arrested Hooker — but after several days in custody, he was released without being charged.

“The decision to release the individual was made following consultation with the Department of Public Prosecutions, which recommended that no charges be filed at this time pending the outcome of further investigations,” the Royal Bahamas Police said in an April 13 press release.
Following Hooker’s release, his attorney said in a statement to PEOPLE that her client intended to devote his energy to finding Lynette.
“Mr. Hooker’s primary focus remains the search for his wife of 25 years,” Terrel A. Davis said. “He is dedicating his full emotional and physical energy toward coordinating with relevant parties to find her.”
Hooker spoke with CBS News and said that he “won’t be able to stop looking.”
The outlet reported that Hooker was emotional and said he was still holding out hope that Lynette is still alive.

“I believe I’ve been told that people have lasted in the Bahamas after falling overboard for days and even weeks,” he told CBS following his release. “There are so many islands, there are so many sandbars, little atolls and spits of land. Of course you think about alternatives to that, but I’m not really capable of just turning away from this.”
Hooker was not accused of wrongdoing by authorities, but authorities told PEOPLE he is still considered a person of interest.
Butler previously told PEOPLE that “Mr. Hooker categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing” and is cooperating with authorities.
