Why isn’t Craig Melvin on the Today show?

When Craig and Savannah were talking about what was coming up during the week of April 13, Savannah revealed his plans for taking some time off for a “spring break.”

“Craig, you are heading off on a very well-deserved vacation,” Savannah shared in a clip posted on Instagram on April 9. “You’ve been holding it down here for a long time, so you’re going to have a spring break.”

“I’m excited,” he added.

What’s more, the duo shared that Hoda Kotb (who previously subbed for Savannah during her hiatus) would take his spot for the week he was out.

“And Monday, we’re going to try a new host here. Her name is Hoda, and she’s going to fill in for you next week.”

“Oh! I’ve heard of her,” Craig jested back. “That will be fun.”

Upon learning about Craig’s hiatus and Hoda’s temporary return, fans had a lot to say in the comments.

“Best News. Will miss Craig. But always good to have Hoda back @todayshow 🫶🏻👩🏼,” one person wrote. “I love Craig and look forward to his return from vacation! I love Hoda too,” another agreed. “Hoda is the best fill-in for any reason! 🤍🤍,” a different follower added.

Despite Craig not being present on Today, it doesn’t mean he’s not cluing fans in on his vacation plans! He shared an Instagram photo of himself and his daughter, Sybil (whom he shares with wife Lindsay Czarniak), on the beach, and he confirmed his need to take time off to spend time with loved ones.

“Out of office for a minute,” he wrote in the caption on April 13. “My daughter thought this was a good idea.”

Rest up, Craig, and we can’t wait to see you back on the air soon.
