HOLME TRUTHS Sad truth about Eamonn Holmes’ relationship as insiders reveal why TV star is terrified of ‘scaring off’ girlfriend Kate

Pals of the TV presenter are said to be worried Eamonn is putting “all his eggs in one basket” with Katie after rumours spread that their relationship could be on the rocks

HE has struggled with divorce, his finances and ill health in recent years and yet, despite this, Eamonn Holmes has no desire to give up on love.
The TV presenter, 65, has moved mountains to please his age-gap lover, Katie Alexander, 43, but making her the centre of his world has come at a hefty price, The Sun can reveal.

The sad truth about Eamonn’s relationship with marriage counsellor Katie has been whispered about among old friends of the TV veteran in recent months.
On the face of it, Eamonn is optimistic about his future with the woman of his dreams after his troubled split with long-term wife Ruth Langsford.
But the Irish host of GB News is said to be quietly making major changes to keep the relationship on track.
A source told The Sun: “Eamonn acts like they’re still in the honeymoon phase. It’s basically a desperate bid to keep Katie happy.
“She has been his rock throughout a really miserable time, and he would hate to lose her.
“Since leaving ITV and the fallout over Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Eamonn has tightened his circle.
“There are very few people left that he can trust. He had Ruth’s confidence for 27 years, but their split had a long-lasting impact on how he feels about the people around him.
“He now understands how quickly people can change and wants to make sure Katie knows she’s at the centre of everything he does.”
The Sun told how he treated his therapist lover, to three days away over Christmas.
The pair were joined by her three children and a dog at the pad in the grounds of five-star Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate, North Yorks.

While shrinking his circle of friends, Eamonn has become more reliant on his other half.
And insiders revealed how he’s had a number of run-ins at work and now deeply understands how fickle his industry is.
Our source said: “One minute you’re flying high, the next you’re a nobody.
“He gave so many years to ITV and yet was treated appallingly over his exit.
“His relationship with Ruth has also suffered severely, despite once believing they’d grow old together. He feels like nothing lasts forever.
“Eamonn knows he’s lucky to have met Katie and is determined to hold onto her. There’s no getting away from the fact that there’s a 22-year age gap.
“She’s a gorgeous woman in her prime, and he wants to make sure her head never gets turned.”
She recently attempted to reassure him after reports that their romance had hit the rocks, with mum of one Katie telling close friends: “It’s the two of us. Always and forever.”

Of course, that’s something his ex Ruth believed to be true before their shock split in 2023.
The Loose Women presenter shared a rare insight into her struggle with divorce, telling Woman & Home magazine that she had started counselling when she separated from Eamonn and is still having it now.
She said: “It is very powerful and very useful. It gives me tools to deal with things.
“The end of a very long relationship takes a lot of unravelling.
“Counselling helps you move on from it, to not be held back.”
While Ruth has not yet met anyone romantically, Eamonn threw himself into his new relationship within months of their split.

‘He doesn’t want to scare her off’

Katie has now become the light of Eamonn’s life, and he’s intent on making her as happy as possible.
But friends say they are concerned he’s making too many sacrifices.
“Eamonn understands he’s not the easiest person to be around these days”, our insider added.
“He can be very grumpy because of the pain he’s in with his mobility issues.

“It weighs on him, and so he can get frustrated when things go wrong at work.
“He does his best to bottle all that up whenever he’s with Katie, though, as he doesn’t want to scare her off.”
Eamonn recently snapped at his TV boss after being cut off while he opened up about his health condition.
The presenter was defending Labour bigwig, Lord Peter Mandelson, for urinating in a London street after recently being sacked as the UK’s ambassador to the US over his links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Eamonn admitted to urgently needing the toilet since suffering spinal issues over recent years – telling co-host Ellie Costello: “I’m getting over a medical condition, and I just can’t wait.
“And then (Mandelson) was in the street. But what else is the man to do? Knock on someone’s door and say, ‘Would you let me go and have a pee in your house?’
“Most people are going to say, ‘how dare you? I’m not going to do that’, so I’m saying there is a difficulty in public about where you actually go to relieve yourself. That’s the thing.”
However, Eamonn was told through his earpiece to move the discussion on – and fired back on live telly.
Eamonn said: “As my producer says in my ear, the giveaway is next.
“They’re obviously not interested in this dilemma or how it relates to me identifying with it.”
Eamonn took a week off the show after this clash on the breakfast show, having been replaced by Stephen Dixon.
It comes weeks after Eamonn fell off his chair while presenting the show.

And he was also forced to apologise for using a “racial slur” to describe Kerry Katona after she had an eyelift.
Reluctantly apologising on air, he was clearly annoyed and fumed: “The world is ridiculous.”
He added: “Apparently, you’re not allowed to describe someone as looking Oriental or…
“I don’t know how I would end up describing Kerry Katona if her eyes change shape.
“I don’t know how I’m going to say, does she look like someone from some other country in the eastern part of the world… the world is ridiculous.”
Friends insist Eamonn is slowly improving after a hellish few years with chronic back and hip pain.
They hope getting back on his feet will fix a number of problems – including his moods at work and temper with pals.
