The father of the minor accusing Joseph Duggar of sexual abuse was asked to get the reality star to confess just hours before his arrest.

Joseph allegedly first confessed to his accuser’s father on the night of March 17, according to a copy of the arrest warrant affidavit filed by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) in Florida and obtained by PEOPLE.

The following day, Joseph’s accuser sat down for a forensic interview with a detective from the Tontitown Police Department (TPD) in Arkansas and, per the affidavit, “described several incidents of sexual abuse.”

The “sexual abuse” allegedly occurred when the minor female was 9 years old, according to the affidavit, during a 2020 family vacation to Panama Beach City.

She allegedly told the detective that Joseph would cover the two in a blanket and then “pull the victim’s dress up and touch the victim’s thighs,” the affidavit claims, adding that he would then “touch the top portions of her thighs and would inch higher and higher, closer to the victim’s waistline.”

While doing this, Joseph allegedly “grazed the victim’s vagina” while his “hand was outside of her underwear,” according to the affidavit.

The alleged victim said Joseph later “apologized to her for his actions,” per the affidavit, and no “incidents” occurred after that time.

The interview with the minor female, who is now 14 years old, and the detective was then shared with the BCSO because the incident took place in that jurisdiction.

Upon learning about the incident and hearing the details of the minor female’s interview, Deputy Sheriff Darrell Norris “requested the detective and victim’s father call Joseph,” according to the affidavit.

The two men agreed, per the affidavit, and Joseph allegedly “admitted his actions, stating he touched the victim over her clothing” during the call, and then “admitted his intentions were not pure.”

The contents of that call were included in the affidavit which a judge signed off on, granting the BCSO an arrest warrant that was sent to police in Arkansas who subsequently took Joseph into custody.

Joseph was booked into the Washington County Sheriff’s Office on March 18.

Two days later, he signed a waiver of extradition allowing him to be transferred to Florida where he is expected to face two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior — one for the molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and one for conduct committed by a person 18 years or older.

He has not yet been transferred.

On March 20, he and wife Kendra Duggar were charged with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the second degree and four counts of false imprisonment in the second degree following an investigation by the TPD.
