when a 20-year-old model died in mysterious circumstances on their $190million superyacht, we can reveal.

The Harry Potter star, 35, is dating dashing and fabulously rich entrepreneur Gonzalo Hevia Baillères whom she was seen kissing at an airport in Mexico earlier this week.

Gonzalo, who is frequently described as ‘Mexico’s most eligible bachelor’, is so smitten he is believed to have already introduced Watson to his parents, the Daily Mail has learned.

But the Baillères family has had a shadow over its affairs in recent times thanks to its association with the still unexplained death of Instagram model and influencer Sinead McNamara.

Miss McNamara was working as a deckhand on the Baillères family’s luxury 300ft vessel, the Mayan Queen IV, where the tragedy unfolded in August 2018.

She was found tangled in a rope at the back of the family’s huge yacht and died from the effects of strangulation soon after.

The 20-year-old, an experienced boatswoman who had been crew for four months, died shortly after she was said to have had a bitter argument with someone on board the boat as it was moored on the Greek island of Kefalonia.

She had been found by the captain of another superyacht, who tried to resuscitate her. She was then flown to Athens hospital but died during the journey.

A coroner later ruled that Miss McNamara had died by suicide, with the cause of the young woman’s death being given as hanging – but with many unresolved questions that ruling has not been accepted by many.

And in 2020, coroner Ilias Bogiokas admitted there were still questions around Miss McNamara’s case after crucial footage, said to be taken moments before the hanging, was never provided to officials.

It was also reported that although Ms McNamara had complained of a fight with someone on the yacht the day before her death, authorities had not inspected the vessel before it left port.

And the coroner never received footage showing Ms McNamara moments before her death.

It is not thought that Gonzalos’ grandfather Albert Baillères – the billionaire owner of the yacht who died in 2022 – was on board at the time and was believed to have left for Mexico two days prior to her death.

Gonzalos’ grandfather, a bullfighting enthusiast dubbed the ‘King of Silver’ while he was alive due to his prosperous mining company – died aged 90, leaving his huge fortune to Gonzalo’s father, Alejandro.

Aljendro now runs the family’s huge conglomerate Grupo Bal, which is one of Mexico’s most powerful businesses.

And the family are said to have a very firm interest in whom Gonzalo might eventually marry – to the extent that they pressured him to break up with a previous girlfriend

That was Spanish singer Belinda Peregrín who he dated for a year before he suddenly broke off with her two years ago.

Sources say that the split came after the Baillères family let him know they didn’t approve of Belinda – with the suggestion that this could affect his inheritance if he didn’t move on.

A source told us: ‘Baillères was involved in a high-profile romance with the Spanish-born, Mexican-naturalised actress and singer Belinda.

‘The relationship lasted about a year and ended abruptly in 2024, and it’s understood that the breakup was difficult for the pop star.

‘But Gonzalo’s family were said to have threatened to cut him off from the family fortune as they strongly disapproved of his relationship with Belinda.’

Mexican journalist Jorge Carbajal said at the time: ‘The thing is that the family has heard so many bad things about Belinda, like that she leaves her boyfriends poor, that they don’t want her to go with him, and then they told her: “If you continue being foolish with that woman we will disinherit you, you know”.’

Gonzalo is currently working as a CEO of an investment firm, HBeyond, in New York having previously founded a smart locker network across Latin America, said to now be worth $115million.

His family owns one of the country’s largest mining companies as well as the prestigious El Palacio de Hierro – a high end department store comparable to Harrods..

The Baillères also own a number of mansions and ranches across Mexico, including a $20million home in the exclusive Polanco neighbourhood of Mexico City as well as overseas assets including a 65,000 hectare game reserve in Namibia.

The superyacht was again back in the spotlight after the Greek migrant boat disaster in June 2023 which saw a boat carrying 700 migrants who had capsized in the Mediterranean.

The Mayan Queen IV – which has a capacity for 16 guests and 24 crew – helped save 100 migrants bringing them on deck.

Neither Emma nor Gonzalo has publicly commented on their relationship.
