CAUGHT ON CAMERA: American Idol Star Breaks Down in Gut-Wrenching Bodycam Footage After Wife’s Death in Alleged Fake Break-In

Bodycam footage released by Ohio authorities is shedding light on the immediate aftermath of the shooting of Ashley Flynn, the wife of former American Idol contestant Caleb Flynn.

Ashley, 37, was fatally shot in the Tipp City, Ohio, residence that she shared with Caleb, police previously said. Her death was initially reported by Caleb in a frantic 911 call, where he claimed there had been a break-in.

Within three days, Caleb was arrested in connection with Ashley’s killing.

Bodycam footage of officers responding to the scene paint the picture of a seemingly grieving, panicked husband, heard loudly crying, at times hyperventilating and on one occasion, throwing up.

The footage was released on Monday, March 2, by the Tipp City Police Department and the City of Tipp City, and reviewed by PEOPLE.

In one of the videos, which is blurred throughout the time it’s recorded inside the residence, Caleb could be heard screaming “oh my god” several times, and at one point asks the officer, sobbing, “Is she gone?”

He is also heard in the video calling his mother to inform her what happened.

“Ashley’s dead,” he repeats several times, breaking down and wailing, “Mommy, she’s gone.”

“I don’t know what to do,” he says, panting and crying, before hanging up the call.

A few minutes later, he says, “I’m gonna be sick,” and begins to throw up.

Later in the video, Caleb is seen leaving the residence to see a relative as she arrives at the location. He stumbles and falls to the ground as he steps out, before getting up and hugging the woman, who is also seen crying and in shock.

“The girls don’t know,” he tells her, before she, too, breaks down. She is identified in the video as the grandmother of the children.

The couple shared two daughters, who were in the residence at the time of the shooting, according to a 911 call previously released by police, as well as the bodycam footage.

A GoFundMe has been set up to assist Ashley’s daughters.

Caleb, who was a contestant on the 12th season of American Idol, has been charged with murder, two counts of felonious assault and two counts of tampering with evidence, according to online court records reviewed by PEOPLE.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Police say the suspect, Ndiaga Diagne, was fatally shot by officers. Sources reveal he was wearing clothing featuring the Iranian flag and religious phrases — just one day after U.S.–Israel strikes on Iran. Now the Federal Bureau of Investigation is digging through digital evidence, background records, and thousands of hours of video to determine whether this was random violence — or something far more deliberate. Three young lives lost. More than a dozen injured. And a motive that could carry international implications. What investigators are uncovering next may change everything.

Savannah Guthrie just returned to her missing mother’s home — and the questions are only getting darker. For the first time since 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie vanished, Savannah Guthrie was seen back at the Tucson property, laying flowers beside a growing tribute that reads: “Let Nancy Come Home.” Investigators say blood was found on the porch. The Federal Bureau of Investigation released footage of a masked man at her door the night she disappeared. Nearby cameras captured a dozen vehicles passing around that same time. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department won’t say if any of those vehicles are connected — only that detectives are reviewing hundreds of hours of video. Now the home has been returned to the family. “No Trespassing” signs are up. So what really happened that night?
