The desperate search for Nancy Guthrie is nearing the end of its fourth week, with officials preparing to release her home and the family of the 84-year-old offering $1 million for information leading to her “recovery.”
Savannah Guthrie announced the reward on Tuesday in an Instagram video, saying the family is holding out hope that Nancy Guthrie is found alive, but acknowledged she may already be dead.
“We still believe in a miracle. We still believe that she can come home,” the Today show cohost said. “We also know that she may be lost. She may already be gone.”
“If this is what is to be, then we will all accept it,” Savannah Guthrie added. “But we need to know where she is.”
Nancy Guthrie was last seen at around 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 31, when she was dropped off at her home in the Catalina Foothills north of Tucson, Ariz., by family members following dinner, police said. She was reported missing around noon the next day after she did not show up at a friend’s house to watch an online church service.
Authorities are still waiting on results from an analysis of partial DNA recovered from Nancy Guthrie’s home. The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has said that “this will remain an active investigation until Nancy Guthrie is found or all leads are exhausted.” But no arrests have been made, and no motive has been identified for Guthrie’s possible abduction.
Officials say they have received tens of thousands of tips since the investigation into her disappearance began.

At 3:47 a.m., my father called me to a “family emergency”… but when I saw the red convertible in the driveway and they asked for access to my accounts, I realized they didn’t want to help me. They wanted everything.
At exactly 3:47 a.m., my phone lit up with a message that didn’t feel like a warning… it felt like a summons. By 10:00 a.m., I was sitting in my father’s study—staring at a brand-new red convertible in the driveway—and realizing something cold, sharp, and irreversible: This wasn’t a family emergency. This was an extraction. […]

They thought the storm would erase everything. The rain. The darkness. The silence of the lake swallowing a secret no one would ever question. They believed one cruel decision could disappear without consequence.
The rain poured heavily that night, turning the quiet road beside Silver Lake into a glistening ribbon of darkness. Inside a sleek black luxury car, Richard Miller drove slowly along the empty road. The windshield wipers swept back and forth in a steady rhythm, cutting through the sheets of rain that blurred the world outside. […]
