Speaking to the New York Times on Friday, Nanos was asked how long it could be until they find her.

“Maybe it’s an hour from now, maybe it’s weeks or months or years from now,” he told the outlet.

“But we won’t quit. It’s exhausting, these ups and downs, but we will keep moving forward.”

“We’re going to find Nancy. We’re going to find this guy,” he added.

POLICE RAID

‘Three people detained’ as SWAT team surrounds home near Nancy Guthrie’s house

The Sheriff, who was criticised for attending a college basketball game days into the hunt, spoke out after a series of blows to the case.

The latest came on Saturday morning, after it was reported that three people were detained in a SWAT raid at a property near to Guthrie’s home.

The overnight operation unfolded about two miles from Guthrie’s property on Friday, as members of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant, reportedly acting on a tip.

Cops said one man was taken in for questioning but later released, and FBI agents were also seen inspecting a Range Rover sat in the parking lot of a restaurant in Tucson just a few blocks away from the home.

However, a law enforcement official later told CNN on Saturday no arrests were made as a result of the operation.

On Saturday morning, Sheriff Nanos told Arizona’s Family sister station, 13 News, that the searches on Friday night were “Nothing more than a lead tracked down that led to a search warrant.”

But this latest update comes just hours after Nanos was accused of blocking the FBI from key physical evidence and the Sheriff’s department as a whole was slammed for “earlier setbacks” in the investigation.

This prompted the sheriff to lash out and tell NBC affiliate KVOA that these claims are “not even close to the truth.”

Earlier this week, investigators faced another humiliation after detaining a delivery driver in connection to Nancy’s disappearance who was released and cleared from the case just hours later.

They previously admitted to having no suspects and no leads with the only person they are still openly searching for being the masked intruder captured in creepy doorbell footage from the night she vanished.

The man seen in a second surveillance video dumping a backpack over a brick wall five miles away from Nancy’s home has also been ruled out as a suspect.

As it stands, cops are focusing on the search for the masked intruder from the night Nancy vanished, and that the mystery DNA found at Nancy’s home doesn’t belong to anyone ‘close’ to her.

Meanwhile, The U.S. Sun has revealed the five inescapable problems holding back the investigation, as reporter Israel Salas-Rodriguez witnessed first-hand the difficulties cops are facing.
